Things I Don't Like

You need some anti-bacterial powder to dry the wound up.

First off you can clean it with a very mild salt water solution (warm water) and cotton wool.

It may sting a little but will help reduce the instinct for Brandy to keep licking it.

Thanks Clive:smile:

I presume I can get anti-bacterial powder from Pets@Home, or similar

What % of salt water solution?  When I had my leg wound, I used to make 9% solution, that or milder?

I've put an Elisabethan collar on her at the moment: she's not happy about it.

Me neither!

Brandy has a wound on her upper thigh, it's irritating her, she keeps licking it and increasing the overall 'hole' in her fur

Brandy's "hole" post or all of it?

Weird double quoting then ^^^

Q

More the Brandy's hole thing, the after bit is a bit :( "poor Brandy"...

Just a mild solution, just so you can taste a bit of salt but not like sea water salty.

Maybe a teaspoon to a pint.

Swab out the wound and dry it off.

Pets@home should sell the powder.

I use the Johnsons one and always carry a couple of bottles at work in my dogs' first aid kit.

The buster collar is definitely a good idea too.

She may not like it but it will stop her worrying the wound.

She doesn't look too happy

My collie gets to wear one quite often as he suffers with very sensitive skin.

He could quite happily chew holes in himself.

That buster collar looks as battered as his is.

Give her some cheese, she'll be happier then :d

She's now amusing herself with pig ear:smile: having alarmed the cats as she crashed into furniture with her buster collar on.:shocking:

@jmurray01 No it isn't how I got the rest of the day off... it's my weekend on, so I do 10 hours on Saturday and outside jobs Sunday morning which is 3am start until whatever time I finish(which I think was about 10:30 today).  Also I know the being paid feeling, however all my bills go out around the 15th(learnt from my mistakes, farmers are funny at paying to say the least)

Yeah, at my last job our salaries were meant to be paid on the last working day of every month...  MEANT TO BE.

Thankfully with this job I can guarantee my money will be in by the time I awake on the 27th so can set up DDs for that date without worry.  I don't trust myself to leave them any later as if the money is sitting there, I'll find excuses to "leave paying this bill and spend the money on...".

Aww poor Brandy, and poor Clives collie! The cones make dogs look so sad. Pretzel hates having it on because she's use to slinking around under chairs and things, but with the extra width she can't fit. Very amusing to have a lamp wandering around the house though!

The feeling like my backside is going to fall off... I have things to do, if I'd known my home made coconut curry concoction last night was going to do this to me, I'd have just starved!!!

Brandy is finding that too, forgetting about the extra width, occasional tables and stools keep getting knocked over, and she has pushed a chair around the kitchen, having got wedged under it.  Climbing up the stairs is particularly challenging, she keeps forgetting to hold her head up as she springs upwards. A collision between cone and stair edge follows

Although Brandy is finding the cone does stop Bunty trying to drive her away from the hall communal water bowl: she can lap in peace with nose protection from her lampshade.  Bunty likes to control 'the oasis' with the clawed paw

poor kid, mind you if someone stuck a satellite dish around my neck, I would think I would look miserable too :p

haha.. that makes sense now:biggrin:

I don't like that our wireless thermostat is being a Johnson! Apparently in our kitchen it's 16 degrees, which I find extremely hard to believe as it would mean the house would be an extra 3-4 degrees warmer at 19-20 degrees which is horse manure! Also kitchen thermometer shows its 11 degrees too!

Is your a Worcester Group one?  Ours is & it's a pain in the backside, half the time it doesn't turn off the other half it doesn't turn on.  We have ours set at between 15-20, it's not that hot though

Lucky you've got a thermostat...  I'm stuck with storage heaters, how these are still being sold as an equivalent to central heating I have no idea!

If you don't know, they heat up overnight on cheap electric and let it out through the day (in theory).  So, leaving it on a 'comfortable' temp the day before means it's either freezing cold the next day if the temp drops dramatically overnight, or melting hot (was 25c in here yesterday!) when the sun comes streaming through the French doors.  Not to mention they cost stupid amounts to run at an average of half power...winter electric bill is double the summer one since having 2 storage heaters on. :(
