Things I Don't Like

I don't like seeing folk flying flags at half mast incorrectly!

My personal pet hate is seeing the flag being flown upside down especially on public buildings.

The one that drives me crazy is at events like the Olympics when our own athletes parade about holding the flag upside down. 😧  You expect that team briefings would point out which way up the flag goes.

It would be much easier just to have a symmetrical flag.  I wouldn't know which way is correct without checking online.

Yep, I have been tempted to tell folk that their flag is upside down but I felt it would be a wasted exercise!!! 🙄

People 'wearing' the flag though, how can you tell if it's upside down? 🤔

On a flagpole it's easy to spot, and if it's a picture you assume that the pole is on the left however if you're wearing it you could claim that if you're face to face it's correct but if you were looking at them from the back it would then be upside down! 🤷😀

Not a 'don't like' as such but I'm struggling to find some information and don't want to start a whole new thread for it.

Does anyone know if there's a public database showing number of births per day in the UK?  I can find a rough average but I'm looking for the specific figure on a specific date.

Try this:

https://www.statista.com/statistics/281981/live-births-in-the-united-kingdom-uk/

For example 1932 = 730,079

sadly I can only find approx data for a single day based on an average.

Don't like my partner's keeps saying "there's no pockets in shrouds" . Does she know something about me I don't?

Put it this way, Im getting my own drinks from now on. 🤣🤣

Or I'm reading it wrong and saying I'm a tight wad . That's probably more like it.

Yeah that's I could find as well.  I'm looking for a specific day though, not the whole year.

You may remember my printer issues last week...  Black text now works fine with a new cartridge.  But colour doesn't seem to work properly!  All the same brand cartridges (cheapest crap I could find) and I've just double checked they're all in the right places.  Any idea what's causing these lines?

You may have answered your own question in the sentence before! 😀

Failing that, have you used the 'Clean Printhead' facility? And is there an automatic alignment setting?

Apart from that I have nothing I'm afraid.

Lol, I've been using cheap cartridges for the last 5 years or so and they've always been adequate so far.

Did a print head clean before though I suppose I could try another one.  Doesn't seem to be any alignment adjustment.

Companies like Epson make all the money to support losses in selling printers by selling ink at stupid prices. Generally I find that (by design?), ink only starts to flow properly through all the nozzles when there is almost no ink left in the cartridge! Just about enough for one colour print-out usually.

Compared to my faithful old B&W Canon Bubbjet, coulour printers are very expensive to run, even using non-Epson cartridges (I would throw the printer in the bin before giving in to Epson's rip-off pricing!) It puts me in a no win situation, I hardly use it except for special, personal Xmas / Birthday cards (the print quality is superb when it does work), so the head is always dry and needs at least one cartridge change on each print-out. And it is soooo slow. Whirring and clanking for hours every time it is turned on, has a cartridge change or mis-feeds, which it does all the time, another effect of lack of use!

I really Do Not like modern printers!

My printer went to the local tip after realising the expense of ink and set up hassle. If I want something printed I go to the library -£1 and I’m done 👍

We bought an HP printer that came with a free 15 pages per month subscription. Ample for our usage, some months it's never used. Currently printing CD album covers and track listings on photo paper for the jukebox.

I must have been lucky with this printer.  Bought on sale for about £20 nearly 10 years ago.  Bought genuine ink once or twice but then swapped to cheap ink, less than £5 for a set posted, changed roughly every other year.  Only use cheap supermarket paper as well.  Can't say it owes me anything at all.  Setup is also simple, just plug it in, switch on WiFi and it connects to either the laptop or phone.

I could just buy the newer version to have delivered, costs about £40 now.  But it's too much hassle to find somewhere to put the old one until I can get someone to take it the dump for me.

@TomsFocus advertise it for free and leave it on your doorstep for collection 👍

Been waiting a few months for the new England kit to be released with the intention of buying a shirt this year...  Needed more 'home based' past times lately and have been trying to get back into football.  Last bought an England shirt in 2006!  I've never owned a personalised football shirt so considered doing that too.

However, the new design has been released today...not sure I'm overly keen!  Would have thought Nike have enough designers to create something a bit more interesting.

Also, does anyone know if there's much difference between a match shirt and a stadium shirt?  Is it just the materials as I can't really see any visual differences?  There's £40 price difference between the two!

Don't like I had a puncture on my motorcycle yesterday morning. I did wonder why I was struggling with the bike to go round corners , 7psi instead of 40 psi in the back tyre doesn't work when your cranked over . Didn't notice flat tyre until I was about to go home. pumped up and managed to get home. Bike tyres are expensive.

I don't like seeing Mince Pies and other festive items on the Tesco website! :shocking:

On the plus side, at least Ian's avatar is almost relevant again.

Stadium shirt is less tailored and normally less ventilated and fit for most of whichever size category you select.

Match shirt is same as the players wear, more ventilation and is designed to wick away sweat from the body but is more of a fitted shirt.

Haha, it's been going on for a few weeks maybe even a month.

Xmas (cough/spit) pressies, wrapping paper and gift wrap items have been increasing in volume in our warehouse.

Thanks for that.  Sounds like it's not worth the extra for me buying a Match shirt in that case.

Not really sure what size to choose as I'm usually too tall for my chest size with normal tops.  The size chart on this particular store shows the same height for all sizes which seems weird.

Lol, I must have managed to avoid it so far!  Anything we should be stocking up on before it sells out?
