Yes, I know not to go to work at the weekend. Stopped that silly nonsense 5 years ago and not starting that again.

Too right, cinemas almost empty so no idiots kicking seats and less many people out shopping too and the roads are generally quieter providing you avoid the rush hours and school run times and locations.

Was upstairs putting some washing away and heard a bang outside. Looked and saw a Honda jazz reversed on to my step daughters Peugeot. The driver drove forward a little, had a look and started to drive on but into the end of our road. Managed to run downstairs and catch the driver before they turned round and drove  off.

Those reverse parking sensors worked well then!

Yeah, I thought that. Girl was a just eat delivery person. She was having trouble finding the right house . After I got her details she drove off and forgot to deliver the food. My neighbour is hungry. 🤣🤣

Luckily it didn't do much damage to the Peugeot so I'm not going to bother with the insurance . Know for sure the girl won't want to contact her insurance either. Will get a quote typed up from works body shop and see if she want to pay up without insurance . Will say she has option of insurance or pay up.

At the end of the day it won't cost me anything to get it repaired at work.

Gulls! Or more specifically the gulls that are attracted to the food that our neighbours insist on putting out for them, including at times, the remnants of whole chicken carcasses!

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind gulls, but they belong near the sea, eating fish etc

Woken this morning around 5 due to the gulls arriving for their breakfast. Not sure if it was left out for them last night or put out this morning but the noise was horrendous! After tea is another time that they congregate on ours and other neighbours roofs squawking and s***ing all over the paths, cars, windows and clothes drying out on the line.

I may be accused of double standards here as I have birdfeeders etc in the garden but usually only fill them during the winter and they only attract smaller birds.

Reminds me of a scene from The Birds at times 🙄

That's the issue with bird feeders. You cant restrict to the the smaller birds.

One of our neighbours does the same but has it on an open feeder not a closed one so the pigeons(flying rats)are always around.

I agree with both of you, some of the people where I jive do the same.

Gulls are a bigger problem when they nest on roofs because most years at least one of the chicks floats down to the ground and can't get back up and the adults end up attacking anyone walking in the same area as the grounded chicks.

It's not just attracting pigeons where I live, some young squirrels have also taken up semi permanent residence.

Battery Charger Leads and Connectors

There appears to be NO standard regarding the pin / socket configuration of the quick connect leads supplied with many battery chargers. Having recently just purchased a Maypole battery charger, today I decided to fit the supplied quick connect lead to my car battery. In the process I suddenly noticed that the exposed uninsulated pin of the connector was in fact the positive. This means that if the lead was to accidentally touch any of the bodywork or engine it would immediately cause a short-circuit. Something that I feel is quite a safety concern.

I also own 2 other different battery chargers both have the exact same quick connectors fitted. So I immediately checked to see if it was the the same with them. To my relief I found they were wired what I would consider the safe way. That is that the negative is the exposed terminal and the insulated terminal is the positive.

A fairly quick search of battery chargers on the internet soon shows that no standard has been adopted, so apart from the possible mishap of shorting out the type with the exposed positive terminal there is also a major risk that a battery charger using the same type of connector but with the polarity reversed could accidentally be connected to a vehicle with the opposite connections.

That's a good point, which I hadn't considered before. As both the chargers I own have leads with both terminals insulated as per your "good example" picture, I'd assumed they would all be the same.

And I thought it was burger king that did flame grilled. Our local KFC went up last night.

That's finger licking hot !

@iantt lucky there to catch that person. She even had parking sensors on the car which boggles me though I remember bumping my grans old Mk5 fiesta into a post behind when the sensors only started working when I just hit it.

Can easily source another wing. Our 107 we found a wing for it and resprayed it along with the doors.

Feel like the main thing I post about is bad drivers. Had 2 fools today on the drive to work. One guy slowing down before a traffic light junction then vering into my line. Think back at it he must of not known where he was going so let him off there.

Then had a BMW driver undertake me further up that road. The road here doesn't have lane markings so assume it not 2 lanes. Then he proceeded to overtake a Prius on a slip road. Did get a little hot headed with this one. Then he turned into the hospital car park I work in and saw him driving all the way down to the A&E entrance. Went to see if his car was parked there and it wasn't so could of just been a patient's relative. Or could of been a work colleague 😬

The driving standards to people nowadays 🤦

That is bad, I don't think everyone realises the power that is in a car Battery.

I once gave myself a bad burn under the Bonnet of an old car because the Stainless Steel strap of the watch I was wearing bridged the positive terminal and the metal clamp of the Battery (it was the wrong Battery so the terminals were at the wrong side). In that split second the old style pivot type strap welded itself together producing a lot of heat in the process and taking the skin off my wrist.

Luckily the grass in the verge was wet and I managed to cool the strap down before prising it apart with a screwdriver. I have never worn a watch with a metal strap when working on cars since.

Oh, just checked the to-do list...  I was also planning on buying something through topcashback on Monday, as they almost always give an extra £2 bonus on bank holidays!  I suspect it's not easy to send that offer to Scottish customers only, so wondering whether they'll offer it to everyone, or not offer it all, for this particular holiday.

Hmm, looks like they're not offering the £2 bonus today after all!

Just done calculation on what our gas and elec monthly would be come Oct based on expected rates then if I wasn't on fixed rate. . ***** me!

From £200 month direct debit ( should be £215) to £465 a month!!
