Things I Don't Like

In the UK you still need insurance to drive to a pre-booked MOT.

It's only tax you can drive without as that can't be bought without a valid MOT.

I wish haha!

Automated help centres and IVR verification just to add a damn debit card to an account to top up my monthly mobile as the bank changes cards every few years make a mountain of work changing everything.

I've received a new debit card myself this week.  First time the old one has expired without being broken early!  Not looking forward to changing all the card numbers online.

some are easy peasy, some are a nightmare

To be fair on PayPal, they do make it very easy... Though with my mum (in her 80s) her bank won't authorise her bank card for online use as she doesn't own/want a mobile phone!

yes sadly in today's world you don't exist if you haven't got a mobile. While I understand the security concept, little thought is given to those who for many reasons do not own or use a mobile.

What ever happened to those little personal card reads that generated a security code based on some algorithm that only it and the bank knew, are they still around ?

Why can't these computerised systems dial a landline and give you a one time use password to enter online? Some people still do use computers (not mobile phones) to do shopping.

I still have 2 PINSentry card readers.  Never use them though as it's much easier to use the banking app on smartphone than online banking on the laptop now.

What surprised me is that they both worked with the cards from the other bank!  Not even sister banks, entirely different companies!

I'm still given the option to use it online, though I don't know if they're still given out with new accounts or whether they're an optional extra request.

I've never heard of that, though on a Google, it is issued from BarclayCard, not my mums bank. Sounds ideal though and on another search, her bank doesn't do any similar device...

We still use the card reader when shopping online if PayPal isn't an option. Can't be too careful these days.

I still have one and very rarely i have to use it to verify some transactions or as additional security when doing some transactions in app. so i make sure it always has a 2032 that works in it.

I really dislike seeking out an item on Ebay, checking it has free UK P&P, then on clicking the 'buy it now' button get the dreaded red banner message, 'This seller does not ship to Northern Ireland'. I then check to see the delivery method, and if a courier, well that's fine as some couriers really get the hand in to NI. However, when it's Royal Mail that really p*sses me off as RM charge a flat rate to the whole UK which includes NI!

(It's also surprising the number of sellers that genuinely don't realise that NI is one of the 4 countries that comprise the UK LOL)

I just had a 'discussion' with a seller on this issue. My greatest retort was finding the exact same item 20% cheaper who took my money without any drama...

I may regret bringing up the B word, but as someone who works for a company that exports and also ships to NI, some businesses are probably put off by the extra paperwork now required to ship to NI. It's almost the same as shipping internationally now in terms of paperwork which is wrong. I really hope they get the NI protocol fixed soon and it can go back to being just as simple as shipping to the rest of the UK.

I still get many items shipped from the mainland - just put a stamp on it and we'll get it. I have NEVER had a package with additional paperwork attached to it unless it's from China or USA...

I guess not all businesses are doing what is required and they are not implementing checks.

We have to include invoices and value declarations with anything we ship to NI.

Ours are normally bigger parcels that go by courier though.

There's the issue, couriers! To be fair, even before Brexit, many couriers charged such an extortionate rate to NI that it's been an issue for years prior to us being left inside the EU LOL

I feel your pain 😞

Quite a few of years ago I received a hand addressed letter that had no postcode on it. However it did have my full correct address, the last line said clearly 'Co. Durham'

The letter posted in Norfolk had then been sent to southern Ireland, where it had been to a few different locations before someone wrote on the envelope in big letters "Try England"

I'm still amazed by scrawling a few lines on an envelope, shoving it in a box, and somehow it ends up at the correct location.

Doesn't have to be a full address, barely even has to be legible!

Many years ago I use to work for Virgin. I remember Richard telling me he regularly got post arriving at his office simply labeled, 'Richard Branson'. I believe Santa has the same system in place LOL

Yep! We get that the whole time here (Orkney) as well! 😡

Even worse when you click through and you find out it's being shipped from China! 🤷

Exactly the same when am trolling Aliexpress looking for goodies, to make my debit card cry LOL

Don't like noticing yesterday that 2 dust cups are missing on my nearside wheel. How poor are you to steal something which costs less than £1. Can buy 16 for £1 on eBay.
