Nordiclight
Today the first real snow arrived. And the car is superb in winter conditions. //Henrik
DNStuff
Sorry for the blast of questions, but.... Do you have traction control and ESP, and if so how good is the ESP, and what is it like compared to driving in the snow in a car without it? harweyko
To Henrik: Hmm, tasty, I`m also awaiting some cold weather but today was broken highest temperature record since 1966: +28°C, blee, in a week it should be max only 7°, snow maybe in a month ;) Looking at the pics, you have 15" wheels? What kind of tires? I`ve prepared 16" Pirelli but I`m not sure if it won`t be very hard to drive with such low profile (195/45 R16), especially on bumpy road as lot of "specialists" here are using summer tires and "snow chains".... @ DNStuff: I`ve never had ESP even having few pretty drifts on snowy roads, and I`m still alive, lot of "helping" electronics can be sometimes worse than your common sense telling you to drive carfully and slowly... It’s actually 16" wheels with 195/50-16 Continental WinterViking1. But due to the higher profile on the tire it looks more like 15”. //Henrik

Excuse for what? The whole in the Ozone layer discovered by British scientists? The warming of the climate? The ice shelfs that are regularly breaking up? If we get a very bad winter again this year I'd start to worry. Nice pics by the way OP, does the heater keep you warm enough and the window clear of mist? Whilst it's true that we are still emerging from the last ice age, so temperatures are likely to rise anyway, the hole in the ozone layer is all our own doing. I agree with the right snow wrong snow part. To be honest I am still in disbelief in the UK, a rich country in the 21st century if it snows for a day you are left abandoned on a major motorway! Careful in the snow i dont wanna see any fiesta's in ditches.. I am more then hoping my ESP, ABS, EBD, traction control (Does it have that?) will more then help me with what winter brings on, last winter was an utter nightmare even at 15 to 20 mph!! in my old car. I ordered both because going down the list I thought I needed to tick a few more boxes, plus they looked quite handy. I was then a bit worried seeing as you can't turn them off (I'm happy to be corrected?) and this might even hinder my enjoyment of throwing the car round corners, but at least now knowing they're pretty useful in the white stuff will come in handy this winter when I head to the middle of France, where it usually chucks it down... You can only turn ESP off in the ZetecS model, but even then every time you turn the ignition on, ESP also comes on by default, still haven't really noticed it so far at all, very clever system :)

DNStuff
Ah right well I'll have to test the ESP out when the car gets here. Last winter I was managing fine in the snow without them until one day I just couldnt get my car out of the car park. It was trapped on a slope and the car travelled further backwards than it did forwards, tried all sorts of tricks to get it out to no avail. Could really have done with the TC then! Pictures look wonderful by the way :)

I suggest you go and look up what traction control is. Snow and ice are exactly the sort of weather that traction control is good for, especially when travelling uphill. Jethores
Best regards from Norway. The winter has arrived here in Norway too. I have been driving on winter roads for 32 winters. No doubt that TC and ESP are helpful on winter roads. As we say here in Norway; it`s the poor man`s 4wd. TC and ESP are specially helpful to drivers with little experience on winter roads. Thes gadgets are made for slippery and difficult conditions, here in Norway all new cars are equipped with these gadgets as standard. Tonight I will take a few new pictures of the car after the Xenon installation on the low beams. I installed a 50w H7 xenon kit in the car last night.
