such as demonstrating the UK’s commitment to achieving Net Zero by 2050,

No, Stephen did NOT say that, he was quoting it as an example of stupidity! And what stupidity. Like HOW?

They, that is most politicians and all corporate bosses. seem to have no idea at all how to reduce critical dependence on gas. More lithium batteries to charge the other lithium batteries seems to be the main "answer" on offer. Complete imbecility!

I do like getting the all clear from the doctor further to a cancer scare.  Still got lots of problems in my life but at least now I've (hopefully) got a lot of time to deal with them.

  • I do like finally finishing a model kit I first started 5 and a half years ago.  It's a very special model that i was supposed to finish by the time the aircraft took her final flights across the UK

Here's an interesting question to pose anyone who is brainwashed into 'net zero'. Simply ask them, "if we achieved 'net zero' by tomorrow morning, would 'climate change' suddenly stop??" 🤣

Now, I'm off to boil up some mashed potato, I fancy throwing it at something defenseless and valuable LOL

Story is I saw this VW UP for sale not too far from me.

Nice to hear from you, Zain. My Mrs has had the Seat Mii version of the Up! for over 8 years now and it's been a very good little car.

I assume from your comments on the ECU that yours is the 60ps version? Interesting thing I spotted on the various Up! (and clones) forums is that the 60ps has lower gearing than the factory 75ps. So if you swap the ECU  or have a remap (the likes of Superchip and Quantum claim about 82ps) you end up with quicker car than the factory 75ps.

Well, looks like Rishi Sunak has got the PM job. The thing I like is at least they got it over with quickly, I don't like that we could have been here 6 weeks ago!😀

Anyway, love 'em or hate 'em, that's another first for the Conservatives.

However, you do have to remember, that without his resignation in the hope of becoming PM 6 weeks ago, the economy wouldn't be in such a mess. He has alot to make up for!

Lol. I didn't say I was a fan!😀

I met him once.  Very polite & courteous, didn't patronise us kids.

(That was before the unfortunate invasion based on someone else's misinformation.  )

I accompanied my Dad to a Labour party event in the 60s where I met Harold Wilson and his then top team - George Brown, Barbara Castle, etc.

The last Labour PM before that was Clement Attlee - anyone come across him?

Yes the 1960's and 1970's when you knew which party was which. Over in the Red corner Labour with Harold Wilson and across in the Blue corner the Conservatives with Ted Heath, and halfway between the two of them was of course Jeremy Thorpe  😉

Yep, the only start/stop issue was when the traffic lights took forever to change!

Just finished watching 'Somewhere Boy'.  (On catch-up...2 episodes airing each night were a bit much lol)

If you missed it and enjoy complex, unpredictable drama with a bit of darkness, it's well worth a watch!

Have watched 4 or 5 episodes so far. Might finish the rest off tomorrow. It's been ok, hoping that it's got a bit of a twist in things 🙂

Liking the weekly news bulletin at work offering intrest free loans up to £10k to help with the commute to work.Might have to see if it can be put towards a shiny new motor without dipping into savings 😁

Interest free loan is a no brainer right now Even if you took the full £10k, and put it in a savings account now that interest rates for them are starting to rise, you're quids in!!

I'm going to guess it has to be something low emission...  Bus fare, bicycle or EV.  Doubt they're just going to hand out £10k for people to stick in a savings account.

If it's a generic 'cost of living' loan, it should be none of their darn business what you use it for. It's obviously been costed as part of the companies operating budget, so I wouold be jumping in with both feet!

'Interest' on money loans always fascinate me, the way the Bank of England in the last few years have hovered around 0.25% interest, yet your 'retail' credit card charges 30% interest. That's why the guys in red braces drive Porsches LOL

My thoughts exactly. Need to do some digging and see if it's a straight transfer ( which I doubt ) but if you dont ask lol.

I do like our nextdoor neighbour coming past with a freshly baked gingerbread 😎

Paired with our locally made butter, it's delicious 😋

Butter was a bit hard to spread on the soft gingerbread 😀

I do like that yesterday, I finally got round to watching "Le Mans '66" aka "Ford versus Ferrari" which I recorded ages ago.

Some obvious dramatization as you would expect (e.g. I believe Ferrari sold out to Fiat in '69, not straight after Ford's abortive bid as depicted), but I found it very enjoyable and pretty close to the facts as I understand them.

Henry Ford 2 and his various minions (with the possible exception of Lee Iacocca) did not come out of it well, as you might expect!

Must admit I was a massive fan of Lee Iacocca.  I read his biography which was fascinating, and the same guy dragged Chrysler out of the jaws of bankruptcy in the early 80s. Not only did he persuade the government to bail them out with a loan in excess of $1 Billion, BUT, he then proceeded to pay back the loan in total, and early! He only died (at the age of 94) in 2019.

I do like getting my 2 minutes of fame this week in our local rag 😀

Was a bit rainy earlier this week and I heard on the grapevine that the road I was needing to use was about to be closed due to flooding so I thought I would try and get there before it was closed. I would have made it too if it hadn't have been for the van getting stuck 🙄
