I too had an Ed Sheeran encounter this morning, his darn, 'Galway Girl' was blaring away in Asda, took me an hour to get the flippin' thing out of my head! LOL

I do like getting the all clear from the doctor further to a cancer scare.  Still got lots of problems in my life but at least now I've (hopefully) got a lot of time to deal with them.

  • I do like finally finishing a model kit I first started 5 and a half years ago.  It's a very special model that i was supposed to finish by the time the aircraft took her final flights across the UK

I do like seeing Ed Sheeran come down my area yesterday. Funnily enough yesterday I drove down past this bit and was wondering why there was a crowd of people there. Him, Big nasty and Tion Wayne were there

Heard of Ed but not the other two.

Who are they ?

Tion Wayne is a fairly recent rapper.  But I'm surprised you've never heard of Big Narstie.  He used to be a rapper/grime artist but mostly does TV & media stuff now.  He's had his own late night show, as well appearing in chat shows (Jonathan Ross etc) and comedy panel shows etc so you've probably seen him at some point!

Thanks for the informative post Tom 👍

Rapper/ Grime errrr.....not really my thing but the Mrs loves to listen to Eminem and Coolio from back in the day.

As for Wanathan Woss, can't remember the last time I saw him on TV.

It's a sheltered life up ere in Yorkshire.

I'm genuinely interested how you pass time on long, dark evenings without watching prime time TV?

Assuming you're not out walking the Whippet or rolling down hills in a bath anyway.

When I'm working ( go back tomorrow after enjoying 12 days off) I don't get home till 18:40, shower tea and nodding head syndrome takes roughly up till 21:00 then it's either "The boys" on Amazon prime atm or one of the other programmes mentioned on the other thread on catch up along with a nice glass of red wine.

This used to be my winery/ garage at one of our previous properties when I was into my winemaking ........ 75 gallons in glass and 196 bottles at its prime.

Very professional, well organised looking set-up 👍

It took a few attempts to get the depth correct hence the foam pipe lagging on the front. Just fitted the Focus (Mk2) in by rolling it up to it.

Sat outside in the garden all nice and quiet. Heard a few cars on the bypass not to far away. Then Wow!! The sound of a decent car with multiple cylinders absolutely hammering it down the bypass sequential gearbox blips. Then back again then . No heating or eating decisions in that household . Must have gone through £20 of fuel in the the few minutes I heard the car!

I do like not having to go out and buy a new airfryer 😎

When we were away in Aberdeen a couple of days ago we got an 'urgent' phonecall from home saying the airfryer was broken and could we look for a new one! 🙄

Didn't have much time so couldn't find one in time.

Came home and found that the dial for the timer had broken, which it needs to be set to actually turn on.

Went to the 'dump' today to dump garden waste and while there had a scratch about and came home with a few cooker etc knobs.

Found one that seems to have been made to measure 😀

First 2 pics is the old one, last pic is the 'new' one in place.

Anyone that is looking for a new airfryer, keep an eye out in Iceland. Richard Walker (MD) announced they have just placed an order for 10000s of them with a plan to retail them below £40 to help energy usage, as much cheaper to run than standard oven...

I'm ready for the hosepipe ban. 🤣🤣

My parents were telling me about this. How long will the ban last? Can't clean my car now though who would report me for washing my car in the driveway 😂

@Turvey that part looks OEM 👌. Can't go wrong with an airfryer. I think we use it more than we actually use our oven now. It's quicker and convenient.

I'm happy I finally got an interview for a job which is what I studied towards. It's a trainee biomed scientist position. Only problem is looking into it it's kind of far away. It's about 50 miles to drive there and there's one motorway which I'll have to rely on to travel there. May sadly have to decline it.

In terms of job prospects I have been looking at other career paths. One I started getting into is computer coding. Bought a subscription for a company where I'm learning different things in coding. There's lots of jobs in the tech sector with very good salaries in just after 1-2 years in the industry which is nuts. Hopefully might look at working as a data scientist in this industry though the first hurdle with any industry is finding a place that would want to take on a graduate / newbie

Have you considered a small flat nearer the job?  Depends on pay of course.  Would save a lot of travel though.

Jobs aren't all about money, think about which sector you're more passionate about?

I'm not sure Tom. Being very strict with my savings at the moment for investing in property. I should hopefully have enough before the end of the year though would like to save up for a nice car after.

I'll be honest looking into the tech industry it is interesting. I've been going on that coding website everyday and have a 30+ day streak accessing it for that long. I do enjoy it plus the main thing is there's so much more job opportunities in it along with the fact you can work from home 3-4 days a week and only go in the office the remaining 1-2 days and have the weekend off. Career progression is faster too. The data scientist jobs I've realised Ive actually done data science in my undergraduate and postgraduate courses so have relevent experience there just mainly need to learn the coding stuff relevant to this role. One of my uncles started a business in this industry so hoping he gives me some work experience as it's hard starting out in it like other industries.

Just reinsured the Fiesta ST on a multicar policy with our Mercedes GLC - £385 total! 🥳

Only £169 for the Fiesta too which is a record (and probably a sign that I'm getting old).

Still looking good at 30,000 miles...

A year younger and ~20,000 miles less than mine (though mine still is my daily driver even though my mileage to work has dramatically reduced since the pandemic).

I've also got a very late 'I do like' post to make (without photos for now - the car is fifthly what with the hose ban and the heat has put me off trying to do a waterless wipe down). I finally got the ST performance alloys fitted earlier in the year. I also went with Pilot Sport 5's all round at the same time. My old PS4's on the front were an advisory on the MOT (and I could feel them slipping at times) and left the rears on the OEM alloys which I have yet to sell on.

Yeah, mine is only insured to do 5,000 miles a year now, although I think with hybrid working and lift sharing I'll be lucky to do 3,000.

We have no hosepipe ban here in Somerset thankfully, but when you do get a chance to clean it I'd love to see some photos of it with the new wheels

Spent the morning giving the Focus a damn good clean which has been long over due.
