Things I do like

I do like the N/S/F door lock motor randomly deciding to work on the 405, thereby allowing the remote locking to be used.  It'll probably be broken again tomorrow though, knowing the reliability of French electronics.

More than likely the door loom...the French like to make these just too short so the wires break from the door being opened and closed...  Lost count of the number I've fixed...and I hate wiring haha.

I do like getting the all clear from the doctor further to a cancer scare.  Still got lots of problems in my life but at least now I've (hopefully) got a lot of time to deal with them.

  • I do like finally finishing a model kit I first started 5 and a half years ago.  It's a very special model that i was supposed to finish by the time the aircraft took her final flights across the UK

I do like the past couple of days we have had as it has allowed me to do some gardening between working, also I really like the fact our Hydrangea has started to grow new shoots, I thought it was dead, so I'm really very happy with this.  Also like the presents I got today, I got 4 episodes of my Mustang build.  And Cheryl brought me a model DB5 to build, some truffles which have now gone, a nice suede jacket & star wars collections(dvds).  Ohh and the mother in law gave me 50 squids, yayy!!

Hydrangeas are deciduous and like to sleep between October and March usually,

Birthday presents? or start of the ancient Roman festival Bacchanalia presents?

Always makes me wonder when you look at it & it's all brown with no leaves/life.  Birthday presents

I must be a Hydrangeas then

I do like that Brandy was very content to spend the whole morning and most of the afternoon with my friend:smile: , whilst I attended some rather lengthy but productive meetings in non dog-friendly offices.  It's the first time she's not uttered howls of separation anxiety, when I've had to leave her with somebody.  Normally, she howls and whines for the duration of our parting.

After a long extra stroll, she apparently spent most of the morning curled up on her favourite rug and the remainder on her bespoke cushion. Mind you, the same friend "borrows" her for a walk on Sundays, so she does know her; unlike random dog sitters.

I also like that Spring is still here, and it's still 17°C on the garage wall thermometer, even now.  Although being in meetings for most of the day, I've not seen a lot of it.

Happy birthday for yesterday then:smile:

One of the advantages of ageing, is your insurance premium drops. Quite significantly as you surpass the milestone barrier years, 25 and 30, see significant drops: I recall

It's the actuator as it physically sticks, rather than an electrical issue.  It always tries to open but most of the time moves a bit (as seen by the button on the door sill) and stops.  As expected it has stopped working again this morning!

Me too!

I do like getting my bedroom sorted and new desk put together (big enough to accommodate my computer and typewriters), plus having a new coffee machine in transit due for delivery any day now.  The old coffee machine became unusable when the glass pot smashed (it had been cracked for some time - one could say a crackpot like it's owner) so given that I refuse to drink instant, I'm currently devoid of coffee.

Before I nudged a Vauxhall up the back end with my Vauxhall lol, my insurance was what I considered cheap, now it's back up to the £1500 a year mark, got it down to £740 last January & the bloke wanted to do it through the insurance, not allowed to put on a family friendly forum what I think of that bloke in the Zafira

Spotting my first RHD Mustang!

Very nice!

I do like working my last day for 13 days!  Thank the Lord, 13 days at home doing whatever I want.  I also like a nice glass (or three) of red wine, as always.

I give it 3 days before you're bored stiff and wishing you were back at work!

I do like scanning the Focus for faults while I had the cable out for another car...and finding none!  Makes a change lol.

Trust me Tom, I'd never wish I were back there!!  Prison would be a better alternative.

It's ironic because at my old job (where I was paid less than £3 per hour) I would actually wish I were back there after a few days holiday and would willingly work unpaid overtime just because I enjoyed being there and doing my job.  Now I won't work a minute more than I'm paid for.  How things change eh?

Yes indeed! I think the yellow suits it (and i hate yellow). I had a good mooch round it as a broken down Bentley was blocking the car park exit!

That's what I was thinking.  The colour actually suits that car though.

I do like finding that missing sock, who vanished close to 6 months ago. It had fallen behind a radiator and camouflaged itself against the bracket, in such a way it wasn't obvious.

I also like finding that the tree report from the proposer's arboriculturist, is completely at odds with the proposers application.  So much so, that it's actually endorsing everything that we the objectors have stated, all along; over the past 5 refused applications:smile:  It's also made his agent, look like am imbecile of the first order.

Is this one of these trading up swaps?  Were he's eventually hoping to swap up to a get house from an initial paper clip offering?

I would've thought 200 marlboro is worth considerably less than a decent phone.  Although a lot of gadgets are probably worth considerably less than a solitary Marlboro cigarette too.  Mind you it depends what he regards as a gadget.

13 days in one go:huh:

I'd find I'd get bored after around 3 days, 5 days is about the most I'd want to take off without a focus (no pun intended)  Unless I was about to embark upon a project that I knew was going to take say 12 days to implement and finish, like say completely rewiring a Volvo 264

Off to Germany in a week, will be nice to catch up with some old friends.

I've been sat at home since the end of November - on full pay, because it's not my fault :D

Is that because of the MOD cuts, the ratio of sailors and officers exceeds the number ships and bases available now?

At least you're on full pay. historically I believe up until the late 19th century, it was half pay when not at sea

Trust me, I'd take 13 weeks if I could.  Being at home may get boring, but being bored is ten times better than being on the verge of a breakdown.

No-one needs a breakdown: boredom is better, in that case

You could meticulously detail your 405 and/or vacuums, in times of boredom relief anyway:smile:

It appears my left mouse button is failing and starting to double click instead of single and causing random double postings:sad:

Yes, very true...  Both the 405 and vacuum cleaners could do with some TLC.
