I do like getting the all clear from the doctor further to a cancer scare.  Still got lots of problems in my life but at least now I've (hopefully) got a lot of time to deal with them.

  • I do like finally finishing a model kit I first started 5 and a half years ago.  It's a very special model that i was supposed to finish by the time the aircraft took her final flights across the UK

So the MH has a Puma engine?

It has the Ford ZSD 422 Duratorq, codenamed Puma, ( 140bhp version ) a detuned version of the 153 bhp 2.2 fitted to Jaguars, Land Rovers & the MK 3 Mondeo ST TDCi & others

Ah ok then. The defender has the same engine but with a DPF and only 122hp...

There are several different bhp outputs of the same basic Ford ZSD 422 Duratorq engine - with & without DPF's

Watching tractor videos & v8 videos on youtube.  Something I'd like to do, is get a v8 truck engine and put it into a car or a tractor, actually telling that a farmer from Cheshire( I don't know him, I know of him) put a truck engine in his Massey Ferguson tractor.  I'm not sure on the HP figures but I've heard it & it's sounds awesome.  It has the truck gearbox in it as well apparently.

If we're talking number plates, I had some pen 15 sit on my bumper in his merc, overtook me and plate read K**NOB I missed numbers but letters are very fitting!!

I do like the seller of the 405 offering to take the car within 5 miles of my house for collection, rather than having to undertake a 40 mile train trip!  Plus, I can thereby collect it tomorrow night rather than Saturday morning.

Happy days!

Sounds great! Any plans for it? Any pictures?

We also used to have a Sierra with F4** FKN (can't remember the last 2 numbers lol)

My Mother is the one who spotted all but the Xantia...she claims to be innocent of mind...yeah...right...

Were you responding to my post?  Sorry, there was no quote so I'm not sure!

I do like the fact that in a few hours my salary will be in my bank and by this time tomorrow my Peugeot 405 will be parked outside.

Yeah I was.

Weekend off.  Hopefully it goes as slow as today has gone.  Got a few things to do this weekend as well, will they get done?  Probably not

In that case, no I've not got any real plans for it - other than to keep it in mind condition and drive it as much as possible.

I do like picking this up tonight...

Nice! Plenty of pics please! 405s are so rare now, I always point them out when I see one.

I'd love to have a 3 car garage with a MK1 & MK3 Focus and a 306.

They are indeed, I don't think I've seen another 405 (besides my own) in the metal for...  God, over 3 years at least.  And we do a lot of driving!

Just need to get out there and take some pictures of it, then go out later on and probably give the bodywork a quick jet wash at the pay and spray until I can afford a professional valet.

I do like the that forecast appears to be wrong, well at least for the moment, cloudy and cold has not occurred: we're basking in sunshine and warmth:smile:

Once, I've processed this paperwork, I should be able to do something Mk2 Focus related with the rest of the day, plus investigate the Mk1's transmission failure:smile:

There's a red 405 Estate in Tescos car park, on the far side by the trees and the Click and Collect building: almost daily down here, presumably it belong to one of the staff, or a very very frequent shopper.

What happened?  Is it the 5 speed or an auto?

It's an auto.

The Electronic Shift Malfunction light came on when I reversing it into the drive last night.  So, it's probably one of the solenoids that has failed or is failing.

Ah.  Whilst I love automatics, I wouldn't know where to start if I had to do repairs.  Prefer a manual, at least I have a rough idea of how everything works!

Hopefully you can get it fixed without too much trouble.

The internals of modern automatics are ridiculously complicated lol, anything more than an oil and filter change and I'd leave it to a pro myself.

Someone uploaded the pages from the Ford Technicians manual on to Focus Fanatics website.  Apparently it's relatively common when the car is about 10-12 years old. Solenoid "A" is usually the culprit, there'll be a DTC generated, so that'll state which one, there appear to six possibilities:smile:

Haynes manuals used to have a comprehensive transmission service chapter, but is has now vanished and been replaced with "Refer to Service Agent".

Did you sell the Punto?

@GMX That's a rare sight! I've only seen two or three in the last few months. Did see a nice 306 today, though.

Yep, and made quite a profit on it too...
