I do like getting the all clear from the doctor further to a cancer scare.  Still got lots of problems in my life but at least now I've (hopefully) got a lot of time to deal with them.

  • I do like finally finishing a model kit I first started 5 and a half years ago.  It's a very special model that i was supposed to finish by the time the aircraft took her final flights across the UK

Is that because of the MOD cuts, the ratio of sailors and officers exceeds the number ships and bases available now?

At least you're on full pay. historically I believe up until the late 19th century, it was half pay when not at sea

No - I've been waiting for my final exam...first my boss decided to reply to my email (sent a week after I got home) on 23/12/2015 at about 1400...about an hour before Christmas Leave started for him.

Then I had to send off my Notice of Entry for the exam - that came back two weeks ago...college were supposed to ring me when it got back...they didn't.  And now, the only guy who knows what's going on is off until Wednesday - Easter break starts Thursday!!

I'm getting a pee'd off now!!

Gemma Atkinson, she is beautiful!!!  Also like getting an earful off the other half every since I got up about her mum cheesing her off... Her mum comes around to take her to get her wedding dress fitted & she asks are you ok to Cheryl & Cheryl says yeas.  I say no she's not, she's cheesed off aren't you Cheryl.  I want Cheryl to stick up for herself more, she only does it with me, it's not fair lol.  I also like I'm only night milking tonight and other than the dog, I'm home alone.  Got quite a bit to do, will I do it though?  Nope, I'll just moan I've got to much to do when I'm at work

I do like getting a new fireplace fitted, and getting paid in two days!

I do like it's nearly weekend off & then on Saturday it's 2 weeks until I get married

I do like enjoying a glass of red wine and planning a day out tomorrow.  Nothing special, just filling the 405 with diesel and going wherever the road takes us.  The weather forecast isn't great, but when you're in the car it doesn't matter.  In fact, it is nice to be in a warm and dry cabin when it is cold and pelting rain outside.

I do like an unexpectedly high salary payment...  Not entirely sure what the reason for this is, but I'm assuming it is related to months of underpayments finally being corrected.  Either way - happy days indeed!

That I can service my car myself for £77.28, whereas if I took it to the village garage where it's always gone to in the past it'd cost £220!

Sorting the table plan out which has annoyed the other half as I've done it properly, mwhahaha

I do like getting back from a 300-mile trip (having filled the tank before leaving) and still having over half a tank of diesel left.  Not bad considering a lot of the trip included sitting in traffic creeping along and also blasting down the motorway.  The engine is sounding much better now too, I think it needed a good long drive to clear out after sitting unused for so long with the previous owner.

300 mile drive just for the sake of it?  I guess you're more confident in driving than me!  Although 300 miles in Scotland is like the closest supermarket isn't it?

I do like helping a mate fit a 'mash-up' engine that hasn't been done in the UK before...and it ran first (cough, second after forgetting a cable) time!   The knock on effect was that I had dinner at 10pm, went to bed at midnight...and woke up feeling fine at 7am.  Where usually I'm in bed up to 10 hours and still feel rubbish next day lol.

Stripping out the living room down to concrete floor and plaster walls followed by replacing window with triple glasing, ripping out fireplace capping chimney replacing with a Celsi electriflame led version and bricking up double doors

Modifying the living room has become more of a money pit than the car ever was, 😅but just as enjoyable and the missus is in on the project.

Purchased some 1.5" water feature hose pipe last week, chasing out wall tomorrow to fit it in to house tv cables between cabinet in corner and tv on wall.

Cleaned and capped chimney with a C-cap aswell as baloon in bottom,

old window

New windows can have a vent fitted in frame meaning id you don't have a fireplace in the room the you don't need the huge vent in wall so I siliconed up vent then filled with foam ready for plaster

gonna be great 🙌

Picked up ten mats in Ikea for 12 euro each will do nicely as temperary flooring until all work is complete and protects the kids from getting hurt on concrete floor👍

Don't be silly - Tesco is only 250 miles away!!

We did have some things to pick up along the way (more of my Gumtree and Freecycle finds) so it wasn't entirely just for the drive.  I would quite happily just drive for 300 miles though as it's less boring than sitting in the house all day

@Lenny really looking forward to seeing the results, looks great so far.  Progress thread?

I do like one of my acquisitions last night...  1960s Remington International which was used in a Dundee law office and given to an employee when she retired.  Unused since the 1980s and worked without even replacing the ribbon!

Does it have wifi?

Yep, and 4G too!

I do like returning from a fruitful trip to Inverness having viewed and bought a 4X4...  The Forester that I was interested in yesterday (and called/emailed/texted the owner to absolutely no reply) turned out to be sold after I finally got a hold of him this morning, so I went back on Gumtree and saw an '01 Hyundai Santa Fe 2.7 V6.  I've never been a fan of Hyundai and a V6 engine doesn't exactly return the kind of MPG I was looking for (mind you, what 4X4 does though?) but it was at a good price so off we went.  Got the price down and paid cash.  Just need to collect it tomorrow.

The 405 will be getting undercoated to protect the underbody from corrosion, but in addition to that I've decided that if we get any snow (more than a few inches!) next winter I'll take it off the road for a few months thereby removing the risk of it being involved in an accident or getting covered in grit.  With the 4X4 we can just run that over the winter months which will work out perfectly, especially if we did get a bad winter.

A final thing I do like for today is buying Osram Night Breakers for the 405 from eBay.  The drive home from Dundee last night was a bit scary at times to put it mildly.  Hanging two paraffin lamps from the front bumper would have been more effective than the current bulbs.  Also bought packs of Osram tail and brake lamp bulbs which I may just replace as a preventative measure at the same time as the headlamps.  For the cost of them it is better to be safe than sorry.

I've just ordered H1and H7 osram night breakers unlimited I've read very good reviews on these, think their German, £35 for both pairs delivered...

Thanks for reminding me I need to purchase a pair of H7 I've had nightbreaker unlimited fitted part two times, excellent upgrade lighting 👍

Thanks mate,

I'm finding it unusual not uploading pictures and documenting progress as it's first project I've done in five/six years that wasn't on the focus 😅

I'm still taking the pictures though.

shir I'll create a progress thread in General Chat section sometime tomorrow evening.

been flat out 13hours yesterday phishing cables from living room to attic, chasing for conduit today and Easter egg hunt tomorrow with kids so I'll get documenting tomorrow evening and possibly Monday 👍

thanks for interest

I'm currently reading one of your guides actually as I've got a boost gauge to fit to my Focus that's from an ST, so even though mines a Mk3 I'm hoping it's a similar method.  I could do with doing some form of Easter egg hunt lol.  I like reading progress threads/builds on house stuff, like garages etc.  Gives me inspiration, not that I ever use it lol

I like having two vehicles again...  Just back from picking up the Santa Fe and giving it a jet wash and filling with a full tank of unleaded (thankfully not diesel as I almost did instinctively!).

Needs a couple of bodywork repairs (N/S/F wing and N/S/R door) but apart from that is in great condition and mechanically it is immaculate.  120,000 miles with FULL service history including timing belt and water pump change at 106,000 miles and transmission fluid change at 116,000, plus the usual oil changes on schedule since new.

Not too bad for £350...

I do like fitting my boost gauges that are out of an ST, the dash just needs a little bit of sanding to smooth it out + get the gauges sitting properly, then get a loom as there was not a blanked off socket :-( then when I've got that sorted I can get it sealed in properly.  I also like having my wedding suite refitted today & not having the original woman, which means that as I've lost weight, I'm actually comfortable in my wedding suite & not feeling like I am in a straight jacket.  I like that Santa Fe by the way @jmurray01 shame it's an auto though
