You got a build thread Ian?

I'm slowly working my way through everyone's build threads, and finding more and more upgrades to consider.

It's good value - when you think how much 2 weeks in the summer can cost. . . & we both hate the cold with a passion !

Back at the old house, I had some neighbours who spent every Jan- Mar in Mexico, and then April-May in Spain. They were enjoying the benefits of being retired on a service pension

I do like getting the all clear from the doctor further to a cancer scare.  Still got lots of problems in my life but at least now I've (hopefully) got a lot of time to deal with them.

  • I do like finally finishing a model kit I first started 5 and a half years ago.  It's a very special model that i was supposed to finish by the time the aircraft took her final flights across the UK

56 nights all inc' in the Algarve in Jan' & Feb' is almost as cheap as staying at home, in fact it's probably cheaper on a like for like basis :)

Only 9 years & 2 months until I get my state pension . . . having paid my 35 years contributions I'd like it now please ! :)

When I was 30 I was planning to retire at 50, then I decided 55 was a better goal.

I'm not sure, having looked at it just recently, what with eye-wateringly low interest rates and sluggish investments, whether 60 would be better

I unofficially retired @ 50, & officially @ 55 - best decision I ever made GMX :)

It's true that interest rates are grim at the moment . . . but patience is a virtue :)

Having nothing to pay when I collected car from ford after 2nd service

That's more or less the way my Dad did it.

He took on a consultancy role at 52, rather than practicing full time, retiring fully at 58.

I wont be fortunate to retire before 67/8 unless I win the lottery. Lol, my father semi retired at 45, after big redundancy payout. Now 82 and still living off it and other investments.

Im not jellous , much. :(

There's nothing worse than working oneself into an early demise i.m.o. & there's no point either . . . :(

Early retirement could be fairly achievable in my generation & before, but sadly not as easy these days, as I made more £ from property than I ever did working ( tax free too ), but even getting on the '' property ladder '' these days is sadly also far from simple or even achievable for many

Good for him Ian :)

It was redundancy or higher up the company ladder for him and extra stress, taking the latter would have shortened his life,

I got a house bought out of it also . Happy days and no mortgage in the 1990's.

As my partner says " theres pockets in shrouds"

Shes a cancer nurse,

Mortgage free living is quite possibly the best freedom of all :)

That didnt last to long , my ex still lives in it, lol

I'll second that!

Just heard on the news that Asda petrol is coming down to 99.7p per litre.

I only use v-power personally but hopefully Shell will follow and reduce their prices as well.

I always avoid Asda petrol but if it is down to 99.7p in Elgin tomorrow morning I think I'll have my arm twisted...

I like my new fibre optic internet connection. Over 12GB downloading from OneDrive? No problem...

Dirty so and so, you'll have to visit an 18+ website for that ha, wouldn't even be allowed to take one, get a right good grilling if I did. Fortunately GMX Ashley has only just got the hang of walking, so konks out on the floor alot, cue bending over and a quick trip to the bathroom. As we are a strictly nighttime tardis visitor in this house :(

Was that an FTTC installation? Or are you lucky enough to be in a FTTP zone? :)
