Mk. 4.5 Delays

Featured Replies

I hate that I found for all these issues and this thread after I placed my order (Active X estate 155 manual, desert island blue, B&O, assistance, winter, family, matrix...)  in the beginning of June... My order was not entered into the ordering system as it was closed at that time. Despite all that my dealer don't want to cancel the order and return my deposit.

Unfortunately I gave up on that Focus and all I want now is to get back my deposit... It seems that I will have to wait a bit for that, but can't see that order finished in time...

Hello Stefan, is there no legal way of reclaiming your deposit?

Of the 3 cars i have ordered in the UK since covid, all the deposits have been no quibble.

At Audi (for a e-tron) i said i am no longer interested, no questions asked and the deposit was back in my account within days.

I have already consulted with a lawyer on that. Unfortunately with the contract I have with them, until the mentioned delivery period ends the only way to get back my money is with good will from their side. I asked for their good will, as the order is not placed in the system, and there are no costs made on their side (other than printing 6 pages in total) and their answer was that they are not obligated to cancel the order and return the deposit, as the delivery period mentioned in the contract is not yet reached... It seems that they want to keep these money as a profit and that's all...

Wow, they sound like absolute idiots, considering they havent got an order on the system they seem to be treating you with distain.

I hope you get your car very very soon or the refund of your deposit.

Sorry to hear you are being treated in such a narrow minded way.

Out of interest, what delivery period did they give you.

The initial period for the order fulfilment is 6 months. However there is an aditional 4 month period after which the contract will be considered cancelled. So in total we can say a maximum of 10 months.

Im in a similar boat. I ordered with dealer start of May and have to wait for the order books to reopen. Wasn't told any of the fulfilment period etc, was just told they hope the order books will reopen around August and will be at least Feb 23 before I see the car, so guess that's around 9-10 months.  I happy to wait until early 23, but that isn't guaranteed with the stories im seeing of reducing production..

I dont have any date on my contract. Never understud that part, every one speaks of dates but i never had a date. I now that i paid the entrance on 17 March and that's it...

Ford seem intent on making things worse instead of working to resolve the delays..

The don't give a sht about us the customer, if we're giving up on orders, no problem, there will be enough idiots who'll buy boring, expansive electric cars that will make a ton of money for them

Chera is correct, dealerships and Ford will sell the car regardless of our orders... However, this whole lack of communication is not doing their marketing any favours.

Exactly, this is the reason I'll sell my Ford 1 year later( I'll do this instantly when I should've receive my car, but my country it's forcing me to keep the car 1 year and then I can sell it, that's because we're receiving 3000 euro ecobonus for destroying 2 old cars) , and then will definitely never come back, going for XCEED , HR-V, XC-40, or other crossover car that will have a good price

The most infuriating part is the postponement of the earliest orders, as I preordered in Oct 2021 (registered 2nd of Nov in Ford system).

There were 2 ST orders at my dealer both with good discounts for the time of the placement but since then they added 4K EUR to the base price.

The other guy took his money back and canceled it but I want my car.

So if they are indeed explicitly postponing it because they don't make the same margin as new orders is really $itty.

Basically more than 12 months will have passed before I will get it from what it looks now.

And this is in direct contradiction with Saarlouis boss who said lead time up to 12 months, not more then 12 months...

That's really sad news, but I think there is one main problem: your car it's an ST and I think Ford due to the pollution problems are prioritizing only the ev/phev/mhev/gasoline versions and the diesel/st are really lagged behind, I'm really sorry for you...

This was not the case before the war, when I had a date of production and VIN for 18th of March. So I don't believe the pollution theory between ICEs.

One week before the 18th they ran out of Sync 4s.. and here I am.

If they were fair they would have restarted the list with Sync 4s as it was interrupted, that obviously never happened.

OK, it is related to the war and Sync 4 supply issue, but when I spoke with multiple dealers in my country( Jan-Feb 2022), they informed me that Ford it's prioritizing the 125mhev version since it's the cheapest and it requires less components to be manufactured, meanwhile I'm waiting for 7 months and still have no date or estimated date, so yeah, in the same room as you, probably due to the Pixel LEDs :((

Is this pollution thing real?

For me, no, for Ford, unfortunately yes

Wow thats mad, so Ford giving preference to lower polluting vehicles. Ford moving differently to every other vehicle manufacturer out there.

Not quiet exactly, almost all are now prioritizing sht EVs and leaving behind the combustion engine options...

My dad did tell me something about Ford making a climate pledge for reducing emissions during manufacturing in the US but nothing about vehicles in UK or Europe, must be quite new.

@Chera i understand them prioritising EV manufacture, but not them prioritising mhev and smaller engines (at the Focus plant in Germany) over the flagship ST model. This is an interesting mandate by Ford.

It's not a new thing or a Ford specific thing.  Car manufacturers have to meet certain average emissions targets across the range.

So to get that average down, they have to sell more cars with smaller engines than larger engines.

Not much of an issue in normal times, but has caused problems during the pandemic.

A majority of companies hit their targets with ease, so wondering why ford would prioritise everything else over the ST or Diesals?

There is something completely wrong with Ford's emission politics in Europe. In my country there is no option for 155mhev with auto gearbox. And in general the options to choose 155mhev across the range are very limited. The explanation was "because of emission regulations". At the same time ALL the other brands have options with far higher power outputs and higher carbon emissions available for order/purchase...

But the hybrid system that comes with those other options are much more emission friendly, the mhev is like a hybrid "wanna be" type. Is there but really isn't doing so big difference. My opinion only.
