Amazon - "Add £0.05 of eligible items dispatched by Amazon to qualify for FREE UK Delivery." 🤦‍♂️

Anyone know what the cheapest item eligble for free delivery is?  Guessing it's more than 5p...

Yes Tom it’s more than 5p - it’s this tool drawer set which you can send up to me if you don’t want it.
thanks

Imagine the size of the jiffy bag they'll need to fit that in!! 😮

Surprisingly, there are items as cheap as 50p eligible for free delivery, stuff like chocolate bars.  Think I might have found something suitable now anyway, albeit for a couple of quid more than I was hoping.  So the question now is how long it's taking to deliver Amazon orders...  The delivery estimator is showing 5 days, no idea if that's working days (don't Amazon work every day anyway?) or even if that's just the standard estimate.  :g:

They’ve been saying 5 days on non essential stuff for ages but they’re actually managing next day on a lot of stuff. I ordered fuses and expected a week but they came next day anyway.

Same here. I haven't been keeping a check on whether there's any difference in stuff shipped from Amazon themselves or direct from the supplier. What I have found is the order acknowledgement quoting a date for delivery and it turning up much quicker - even next day.

One good thing about the current situation is you're not likely to be out whenever your order does arrive!😀

Well you say that, but it's something for my Mum and she's still having to drive to the office for a few hours a week at the moment...sods law that's when it'll arrive!

I don't like after taking out the lower rear section of the back seat; stripping off both rear door cards,

Unbolting the bottom of the front seat belts; lifting the carpet and checking rear speaker door cables with a multimeter to check there still carrying a current and theres no break in the lines,

To discover the problem is the connection loom within the door inside the goose neck which connects to the car; its blocking the flow in the speaker cables somehow; and it's the only factory part which remains in the entire audio system,

I've got two JL Audio C3 650 speakers fitted inside the rear doors connected to a JL400/4V2 class D amplifier in the boot compartment putting out 200w to the doors but theres no life in them now atall because of the connection block between the chassis and the door itself;

I don't suppose that I will ever manage to resolve that issue.

I've since bridged the amplifier to feed only the front speakers which are also C3 650's

I find this very weird. Yesterday my sister got her insurance renewal for her first year of driving on her vauxhall corsa. Hardly drives her car. Her renewal is £517 with now 1 years no claims. Wh-what, I'm paying £550 for mine with 4 years no claims and protected no claims on my fiesta. There must be gender discrimination going on. Mum was saying this lockdown and CoronaVirus must of lowered it but I doubt that.

Dad is wondering though if he might sell her car as she isn't very keen on driving and heard her say she doesn't like driving. If that does happen I might ask him if we should get the little Peugeot 107 with the money we get from the corsa and have that as a third car and I keep my fiesta 😁. The ULEZ charge area next year I thankfully won't be in it but it's 1 1/2 miles away from home so could use the pug as a spare car to drive into the zone if ever needed.

@zain611 from our experience Corsas seem to attract lower insurance premiums for some reason 🤷

Would be interesting to see what you were quoted for her Corsa.

I guess that could be because Corsas are utterly worthless?

Just in my experience.

It will be to do with Corsa's being cheaper...both to buy new, and to repair.  Look at the cost of the Mk6 Zetec S bumper compared to a basic Corsa bumper for example.  Vauxhalls are always in cheaper insurance groups at equivalent spec than Fords.  Plus a ZS is far more likely to get stolen or maliciously damaged than a dull Corsa, I'm guessing she doesn't have a VXR lol.  You should find a basic Fiesta LX is much cheaper to insure than the ZS.  Plus, yours is modified isn't it?  Hers is totally standard presumably...

Both Corsas and Fiestas were expensive to insure when I started driving, as was anything small and 'youthy' like the 106 and Saxo, one of the reasons I went for a 306 myself!

That’s why I had bought my first Focus for my first proper car, as it was cheaper than the usual first car suspects to insure.

As an aside, I don’t like that I found this old photo I took with my very first car, a 1.2 Fiat Punto I shared with my Mum. I don’t like because of the caption, wth is “car wash banter” all about?! And it’s a generally crap picture 😂

Lol I'd think that having 4 years no claims and holding my licence for 5 years would help compared to her 😂

So was looking at new quotes. With me added as an additional driver it was about £570 with a black box or £680 without one. Funnily these quotes did not change when I was taken off the additional drivers. Thing is it might be the case of going with the black box. Hopefully this might be good news for me as I might be able to keep the fiesta and use her car if I was going into the planned ULEZ zone next year. I'll mainly go in it however when I go hospital every weekend so I'd wonder when I'd drive the fiesta if Ill be travelling to work by train

Is there a date for the ULEZ extension yet?  I really wouldn't want to risk a train while Corona is still about tbh.  May take several more months to get a vaccine sorted.

My don't like for today is the audio video sync on the PMQs at moment...how have we still not worked out to make it sync again at the other end!

I think it's October next year. Was messing around seeing how much insurance would be for my dad if he put me as a second driver on his car. Went up by £1200 😤. Probably better and good that I'm still able to afford to be able to be put on my sister's car.

Ah ok, lets hope Corona will be gone by then!

Lol imagine if lockdown hadn't been lifted then 😂. Us introverts would be normal but extroverts I wouldn't want to imagine. Hope I can move on and be happy with life.

I'm kind of getting a bit of hope now that I  might be able to keep the fiesta. Dad might see if sister is okay with it if we might sell her car and get the Peugeot 107. Would make it easier for me and dad to drive that car if we were to go somewhere which is within the planned ulez zone. My hospital is just in the zone so would like to see then if they'll put cameras up on the route there or not.

Even when lockdown is lifted (starting small this month I reckon) we'll still have to socially distance until the majority of the population get vaccinated...if the vaccine even works long term!  Would like to hope it'll all be done by the end of next year though lol!  The irony is that using public transport is far more dangerous to public health than CO2 & NOx emissions from private vehicles at the moment!

I've got used to staying at home now, can't say I actually like it, but I'm not missing going out like I was a few weeks ago.  It seems a bit harsh to set up ULEZ at a hospital on the very edge tbh...are people gonna have to pay to make A&E visits or have babies?  'It's coming, grab the car keys!' 'Sorry love, you'll have to get the tube, can't afford ULEZ today'...

I'm getting fed up with the media and politicians overuse of the phrase 'ramped up'.

Makes a change from the other one that annoys me - "going forward". Anyway, going forward I hope we don't see the use of either phrase being ramped up!😀

locked down does my head in

Special shoutout to the muppet in the Golf GTD this evening, who despite no other traffic around decided to tailgate me so closely down the high street I couldn’t see the VW badge on the front 🤬

I set my cruise control to 29mph when someone does that.

I just brake hard when folk do that. Or when I had the focus with normal handbrake, I would put that on then they had no indication I was slowing. Lol
