Things I Don't Like

Currently it's on Facebook and gumtree as you said. Gumtree I've had one scammer message me this. Had one previously before I readvertised it. Both within the first day advertising

Facebook I've had a few people message. One as I mentioned today. Some lady message then asking for my address which I didn't be specific on and just got a thumbs up then another asking if it's auto. I am thinking of putting it in autotrader after a week if no luck. It's £75 but not bad

£75 is the top package on Autotrader.  The basic one is £35, a few quid cheaper than an ebay auction which is now £40-£60 with listing and sales fees.  Alternatively, you can post an ebay classified ad for £20 which lasts for 30 days.  Personally I'd go with the basic package on AT first.

Well I didn't know that 🤔 - just goes to show you learn something new every day 😀

Things I don't like...

I recently had a 'significant' Birthday, and this morning I was wandering around Asda. Found myself humming along to Phil Collins over the musak then, continued humming as Huey Lewis came on. 'Nice tunes' I thought to myself, god, I'm getting so old...  🤣

I was wondering ... Since I am from Dagenham, home of Ford UK, should I get special recognition in the forum ? 😎

Maybe, but it won't be pretty! 🤣

I just sorted that out and i block people now, thanks for pointing that out.

You may also like to know that even when you set your parameters, if a dodgy one still gets through to bid, you can still, 'remove bid'. There are some horrible people out there, though most are good. Just don't o selling to any Nigerian princes, who promise payment once they get their kingdom back 🤣

Try being genuinely restrained by health conditions, unable to use phones and unable to travel far to collect vehicles...thus requiring vehicle delivery, online only comms and remote payment.  I've genuinely been in that position for the last decade, but it's one of the most common scammer circumstances!

Reported.....Scammer post lmao

I don’t like that my car has started shutting off the passenger keyless entry. Maybe I should start a new thread about it, stop start hasn’t worked for a while either.

Oh!!!

Sounds seriously bad. Maybe someone will have had these problems before?  😂 😂 😂

Battery failing? 🤷

Don't like that when I asked for this afternoon off work , as I had got a fencing guy round to do more fencing due to wind blowing rotten panels down, ( got a puppy and garden needs to be secure) my boss  seems to think I'm going for an interview the ways he asked if the afternoon was essential or leisure. Moaned then agreed . Then just as I was about to leave he asked me up into board room for a chat . Weird chat really about the lad who just left) my god son) and the time I handed my notice in a few years ago.

I don't like the confusing laws around tax & insurance...

In the past I've always left 'unused' cars taxed but uninsured while parked off road.  Never been fined or anything.  I know technically they should be SORN'd.

However, I think they might have tightened up on this law recently after hearing someone got fined for doing exactly that.

So...if I SORN a car that won't be insured, and has no MOT (awaiting repair with an unknown time frame).  Would a garage be able to drive the car to repair & MOT while SORN?

Insurance is a 2 minute swap from one car to another for me, all done online and with no admin fees under my particular insurer.  But obviously tax loses a whole month when stopped/started and you can't SORN for short periods either.

Also, on the same subject...does anyone know if a car on Ford Finance has to be taxed?  Or could I SORN it when the tax runs out?  Would obviously keep that one insured due to it's value.  Can't read big blocks of writing without triggering headaches atm so if anyone knows that would save me reading through the finance pack.

If the garage is picking up the car to do the repairs and MOT then surely they will be driving it under their "trade plate"

In an ideal world the garage would probably put it on a trailer to cover themselves either way.

The tech just comes out in the courtesy car and leaves that in my car park while he takes mine back to the workshop.  Thier insurance covers them to drive customers cars without the trade plates.  BUT I don't know if they're still covered if the customers cars aren't taxed.

I think trade plates are only for cars they 'own' to sell, rather than for customers cars...?

Trade plates are for the garage to be able to move a vehicle in their possession (driving it) without it being taxed tested and insured.

How have I only just found this thread?? Got a feeling this could be my new home...

Right, first thing from today is Hunts Cross Asda not having any chocolate covered waffles in, AGAIN!!

I need my fix soon otherwise there will be trouble

It is not a legal requirement to insure any motor vehicle kept or used solely on private land, including your private drive. You have by law to keep a motor vehicle either taxed at all times OR declare it SORN. It must be one or the other. [except the motor trade]

If keeping a motor vehicle on private land and not taxing it, then you must declare a 'Statuary Off Road Notice. As the name suggests you are declaring that the vehicle is off road, not that you are not using it on private land.

Insurance (quick hello to Dan) is a personal thing. You can still insure a vehicle that you have declared SORN, as indeed i have done with my motorbike.

When your stupid piece of crap laptop decides it doesn't want to connect to the wifi because it's a useless sack of balls, yet every other device (which you aren't using) is connected perfectly fine! 😡😡😡

Thanks for the subtle heads up 😋

This thing is beyond help though, it got my all through university but it's time may be coming to an end and an upgrade is on the horizon

You young'uns LOL You're all about being 'green', but the 1st sign of trouble, it's toss it into landfill and buy a new one. My laptop is now 12 years old, and recently upgraded to a SSD 1Tb hard drive, it's never been more efficient and fast. And, I could care less about the environment 🤣

It's more to do with the fact that it has been dropped, stood on, peed on (by a dog, not me!) and generally abused since day 1, in fact it'd done well to last this long 😂
