My company still abiding by the isolation rules gov not long scrapped. So can go back to work after negative test day 5 and 6 . Could have done with being at work for rest of month as we extremely busy . Losing £70+ a day bonus while at home 😭😭

Not that I feel well enough for work, got issues with heart rythmn without COVID making matters worse!

Hope you feel better soon, Ian.

I've seen more people getting positive tests on my social media in the last couple of weeks than I ever did while all the restrictions were in place.

Thanks. Know I've got it from work off someone. Not been anywhere last couple of weeks . Partner and her daughter not brought it home.

No one symptomatic at work. I've asked around. But the lads I work with are all having lateral flows incase.

I'm bored already and it's not even a work day.

Never worry, the F1 race is on later today - plenty of excitement, especially if Hamilton loses again! 🤣

What Chanel is that on?

Unfortunately, it's only live on Sky Sports (406), highlights on Ch4 but not till 10.30pm... In the old days, you could get it live 'FREE' on BBC, then ITV, but they don't have deep enough pockets anymore.

Well, thanks for telling about that then! 😭😭😭. What else are you going to tell me I can't watch then🤣🤣🤣🤣

Know all about pretend engine noises. Propulsion sound mode on the mach-e but I could do a better noise.

Listening to F1?  Couldn't you just park up in a motorway layby for the same effect? :whistling1:

Think I probably know the answer to this but is there ever any discount or cashback on Autotrader ads?

Just passed the 1st year of Mk4 ownership so really should put some effort into moving it on to an owner that can make use of it now.  I don't mind paying for an ad given their wide audience (after all, I rarely look for cars anywhere else myself nowadays!), but at £85 for the recurring ad, I'd prefer some discount if I can find some!

Also, are there any car buying sites I should try for a valuation?  It's such a rare engine & spec combo that there aren't any other identical ones on ebay or Autotrader, and I think that's throwing the trade valuations out as well at the moment.  I've done Motorway, WBAC, WWAC, Autotrader (won't value it), Wizzle/CarWOW (won't value it), Cazoo (PX only due to finance owed) & Evans Halshaw (won't value it).  Any I've missed?

Had a pretty sh###y day today.

Stood by the roadside with a dozen work colleagues paying respects to a 44 year old workmate who died last week after a battle with cancer.

Later on I took my mum from her home of 15 years and took her to her new home, a residential care home. You have no idea how guilty and selfish I feel right now even though I know she'll have a much better quality of life where she is now than what she has endured over the last couple of years.

I don't like it that my father's cancer is back. He hadn't felt very well for a few weeks (bloated and uncomfortable) and ended up going into the nearby A&E on Friday afternoon. He didn't get seen properly until later in the evening and by the time they had tested and checked things they had to keep him in over night. Ended up draining ~3 litres of fluid from his stomach/abdomen area and said that the cancer must have spread from after his pancreas was taken out in November 2021. He's got some antibiotics for an infection but is now waiting for Oncology to get back to him.

He's back at home for now and on paracetamol for the time being to help with some of the pain from the infection.

4 years ago, I took my mum from her home of 50 years, and where I lived for all my secondary school time, to a little house about 10 miles away, which is within a minute's walk from my brother's house. I was a bit reluctant, but my brother wanted to do it, and had bought the house and done it up a bit. My mother has never liked her new house, and always complains about how much better the old one was, at least in her memory. She is in her 90s now.

But her health (mental & physical) has stabilised, and maybe even improved a little since the move. She was going downhill rapidly between 2016 & 2018 in her old house, and could not enjoy the large and often beautiful garden at all. Even going out to fill the bird feeder was too much effort. She has severe COPD (enphysema) and arthritis among other problems. She had at least 3 spells in hospital in 2016/2017. It was a nightmare for my brother (I live 200 miles away.), with that frequent 20 mile round trip in bad traffic, along with work and his own complex family commitments. So the move has been, in most ways, for the better, both for him and for my mother.

Mum remembers better times in the old house, looking at the birds in the back garden, getting out in the sun, and generally being in a home that she had made her own since dad died in 2006. She has little memory of the bad years when she stayed in one room, and became clinically depressed (part of the reason she ended up in hospital.) When she complains to me about how limited her current little house is, I have to accept it, and try to divert her. I don't try to remind her of the grim reality of the last years before the move.

Dealing with the problems of advancing years can be tough. There is no easy answer. All options have downsides. You have to carefully pick what seems the best one, then accept that it will not be ideal, and there will be times when you wonder if you did the right thing. But if you have done the best you could at the time, then that is the right thing. Also you often get no thanks from the person you are helping. They usually can't see the reality of the whole situation, and maybe that is a good thing!

We’re in a similar situation. Our mother is in her mid 90’s as well.Lived in same house for over 50 years.Father passed away a couple of years ago. From what I can it’s managed decline. As a family we’ve all pulled together and she wants for nothing. What I hate is when we’re not in control and and have to rely on others where there is the possibility of being let down.

I know some of you have young kids & grandkids - if you've got them any Kinder Eggs, check the dates before giving them!

Absolutely not!

Worrying that it's in this type of product though.  Might expect in chilled meat or similar!
