I don't ***** think so!!

Perhaps I was being a bit hasty discounting Butlins Skegness. ......... Er, Er,

Nope, I rather poke my eyes out with a blunt spoon.

I'm having to organise a plan b for our hols on Friday. Been a lot of cancellations by the likes of easyJet, jet 2 and tui the last few days ruining family holidays either delayed or completely canceled with less than 7 hrs notice!!

Due to go away Friday afternoon to Madeira . No way I'm staying at home for a week.

Any suggestions on where I should holiday if my hol is canceled.

Was thinking of getting a eurotunnel ticket and tour France instead. That could be easily arranged at extreme short notice.

Trip to the Nürburgring?  See how quickly you can get a diesel Mondeo round there...

If the late Sabine Schmidt was driving, she'd still get the Mondeo round faster than most in a 911 Turbo would manage! LOL

My parents were having something similar though they tried bumping up the price ticket during trying to buy the tickets. My grandad wants to go Canada to attend one of my cousin's weddings. Was having this issue. Can't remember now if they sorted out a ticket for him

Petrol price - £1.759 and rising!

Might have to take the train or bus at this rate.

iantt, How about Egypt? I am heading to cairo and Luxor for a 4 day trip.

Yep, just checking where I would have to fly from and with which airline.

Judging by your user name, expense no object, eh? 🤣

Things I don't like:

Driver who used phones while driving!, and Gas price right now.

Don't like chasing a weird smell around my flat for the last few days...  Wasn't really awful, just kind of a bit 'damp & sweaty'...

Changed my top & hoody...still there...changed my bedding earlier than usual...still there...noticed it seemed stronger in the bathroom...changed the towels earlier than usual...still there!  Just realised it's my hand soap!

Been using the same own brand soap for the last 5 years or so, hopefully this one's from a dodgy batch rather than a permanent ingredient change! 🤔

I had a horrible smell in our unsuite while showering. It was the shower gel I was using. Same lynx brand but wow it did smell horrid. Dodgy batch I guess.

This is a do and don't like I suppose.

It's nice we got away for our hols to maderia yesterday.

But don't like we had to wait over 3 hrs at very busy airport for our aircraft to be fixed. First we were told the plane was delayed  being cleaned out . Then the more worrying statement that the engineers had tried to do a software upload to the aircraft system and were now checking the software for bugs.!! Then announced the software hadn't downloaded on to the floppy disk in the aircraft !!!!! Really!. Was the Boeing running Windows 95??

There were 180 worried passengers when we finally took off thinking we might need to switch the aircraft off and on again at 30,000 feet to reboot.

I had a friend who worked for Servisair 25 odd years ago. Rebooting a 747 to iron out bugs was a common fix. In exactly the same way you had to reboot your PC to get it to work cleanly.

I could understand 25 yrs ago, but now? The aircraft was 10 yrs old but the tech must be a bit more modern now? And why a software update imbeteen flights that were running late anyway.

Most of the aviation industry, Airplanes, Air Traffic etc. are all using Windows XP. It is considered to be stable and basically the whole world would have to change operating systems at the exact same moment as every aspect of the air industry is so interconnected.

I can highly recommend a documentary series called, 'Air Crash Investigation'. (If you're squeamish about flying though, maybe give it a miss LOL). It is very very rare for accidents to occur because of software failures. Indeed, I have watched every episode of 20 odd seasons and cannot remember one single one - happy to be corrected! Overwhelmingly, it's a human c*ck up that is the cause, where it is pilot error, or, ground engineering crew error in maintenance, extreme weather, an inherent design fault, or filling up the fuel in Kg instead of Lbs LOL.

Excellent series, I have them all on DVD and a good many more of the same. There is a very good YouTube channel called 'Mentor Pilot who gives a professional airline pilots view point on accidents.

I've got no issues watching those programs and then get on a flight. It's my partner who is the nervous flyer. Esp when I told her the aircraft we should have flown on was the max 8 and my sister piped up about the accidents.

But I did show her a few you tube clips of dodgey landings at maderia as there quite often strong sidw winds with extra pilot training to fly in and out of airport.

In my late teens, I had the absolute privilege of flying a very small Cessna, single engine plane. I can confirm the scariest part of flying, was the landing! Although to be fair, an analogy would be like controlling a Robin Reliant (the Cessna), to an F1 car, or HGV to a proper commercial airliner. To increase drag and slow down even quicker, use to flick open all the windows 🤣

A couple of 'I don't likes' today...

I don't like getting a phone call from our vet yesterday saying that someone had brought in a deceased cat whose microchip confirmed that he was ours 😥 I don't know if they had hit him or someone else had hit him and they picked him up, regardless we were pleased that someone had taken the bother to do it. RIP Ozzy.

Second one is not so important but, when did gig tickets become e-tickets only? I quite like keeping tickets as a momento but our 2 next events are e-tickets and no 'real' ones. Going to have to print 'tickets' to add to the collection.

Sorry to see you lost your cat, Kevin. We lost one that way and I just found him by the rosdside, very upsetting indeed.

Yeah, I agree on the e-tickets also, we like to have something physical. Mind, last time I tried booking something it was such a PITA anyway we just gave up in the end!

PS just back from a cruise to Shetland and Orkney, and on our departure from Orkney we were treated to a performance by Kirkwall Pipe Band who were  excellent - and we didn't need e-tickets!😀
