Things I Don't Like

My partner kept telling me " there's no pockets in shrouds" that was until I spent every penny of my savings on a car.🤣🤣🤣🤣.

When I was about 12 my Nan was telling her friend how she would have my grandad buried in his sport jacket...  (He wasn't dying, that's just her idea of a fun conversation topic).

I had visions of him being buried in a green & purple polyester number!  Had no idea that a sports jacket was also something made of tweed!

Sorry Tom, it's fine on both my LapTop & phone... (Maybe a nice lie down with a cup of tea? LOL)

Maybe I'm gaining some spidey senses!

Maybe your OS is just too up to date? I'm running Windows7 and it's working fine - bet on XP it would be fine too LOL

I've noticed things like this over a few days but this is new. Seems to be more layout errors each time I visit.

I've messaged the admins, probably to do with some updates or something.

am havig issues on quite a few sites, on here the top sign in bit has gone wonky, win 11 fully updated chrome browser was the same on edge, we seem to have stretched LOL.

Inside at work this morning . My fridge is warmer.

Don't like realising my 12 gang switched Masterplug surge-protected tower is failing after just 15 years of daily use. 😮

Noticed the laptop hadn't been fully charged a few times when switching on lately.  Couldn't get my phone to charge properly last night.  Only noticed today the charging light wasn't on the laptop...turns out the whole tower has been going off.

Question is, do I buy another Masterplug or is there a better alternative out there now?  Still want it to be switchable from the top (about a foot off the floor).  Would prefer some USB ports as this one had none back in 2007!  Not sure whether surge protection is really needed, I assume modern electronics are all built with that nowadays anyway?

mmm... yep, no wonder you are looking a better alternative, imagine, only 15 years use. Your poor laptop has probably gone through 3, maybe 4 operating systems over that time

I bought a Mk3 Focus after a positive experience with the Mk2.  Will never again assume that a newer version of something would be as good as the previous one!

Interesting thought though, I didn't have a laptop until 2013.  This Masterplug tower has seen 3 desktop computers, 2 daily laptops and 2 cheap 'car' laptops.  As well as 2 TV Monitor's, 3 Freeview set top boxes and 3 generations of Xbox!

Do they not make stuff to last anymore hahahahahahaha

I still use Masterplug extensions. They're cheap but do the job and readily available from Argos. I'd also still opt for a surge protector for that extra peace of mind - better to blow £20 of extension lead instead of a £500 computer when there's the inevitable power surge as they switch off the National Grid for winter.

Not sure the type I'm after are cheap any more.  Want a tower style with switch on top, at least 8 sockets & 2 USB. Looks like they're £40-£50 now. 😮

Could have done with a few of those with surge protection at work today. But even those may not have saved all the electrical equipment that got fried this morning. Electricians had done some major work last night/ early am . Then at 9.30. puffs of smoke from nearly every electrical item and popping of large screen monitors going off. Even major equipment smoking  , now got no lighting, heating (not that heating works, still -0.4c inside)

Sounds like surge protection isn't the marketing gimmick I thought it was!

Looks like Robert Dyas is the cheapest place online for that tower...  Free postage is only above £50 though.  Any suggestions for a useful £12 item from there?

Really Tom?? LOL To keep it clean, I'd go for some spare AA/AAA batteries, they always come in handy...

Yeah ! I've got 6 laptop chargers fried and battery chargers for battery drills and screw drivers fried, canteen microwave, filtered water dispenser, lighting, lads hifi , coffee maker, milk warmer. Room lighting , printers, etc, etc etc. Oh and 7 ramps , 2 40ft long ceiling heaters.  Quite a long list

Good suggestion.  Bought 40 AAA's last week though. 🤦‍♂️  And have about 80 AA's left from the last bulk purchase.
