Things I Don't Like

Yuck, leaves >.<

The wife throws them on all my food. I suppose love can be cruel sometimes :P

Dressed leaves are quite pleasant: undressed leaves not so

I've now drunk 3 Litres of water, the thirst is subsiding :)

You've got an estate. On your tailgate, just below the swage line, do have you have a chrome trim plastic strip? I only noticed mine's got one, whilst I was talking to the Openreach engineer up the pole. It doesn't look like it belongs there, but I'm unsure whether it's a Ford OE trim: or a previous owner put there.

The two estates in project threads are Titaniums and they definitely don't have one. That could, however, be a Titanium only look.

Probably due to the size of the voluntary excess.

I don't think I've seen such a huge one before :o

I don't honestly know where you mean, however I have no chrome on the back at all. I think the only chrome I have is round the grill on the front... Mind you my focus is a Style, so it's the basic model, it's had a few upgrades by the previous owner (zetec alloys) and I put in a mk2.5 armrest.. But pretty standard from there on...

And I imagine it costs an arm and a leg should you need a replacement windscreen?

Nope, at most it's an extra £20 we've found.

It cost my dad about £90 on his policy for a new heated windscreen on his Freelander.

And yes I believe Ford were the first to bring the idea into mass market, explains why most JLR cars hace them seeing they were owned by Ford.

I had two replacement heated windscreens on my 05 plate Mondeo ST TDCi - both were just the £75 insurance excess & installed by Autoglass

Exactly the same principle as a heated rear windscreen, but instead of thin wires: it uses a silver/zinc oxide film between two glazing sheets.

I've got a feeling that Ford invented it, the Granada Mk3 was one of the first cars to have it in 1985, or thereabouts

Does the Focus have a different heated windscreen compared to the Fiesta? I can definitely see the thin wires in mine, and they are quite annoying at night when they are lit up by oncoming headlights.

As others have said I would think it is just the cost of the windscreen excess. It wouldn't be fair of them to replace a heated screen with a standard one. That's like replacing a written off Ford with a Vauxhall :P

I can't say I've ever really noticed the heated screen elements on any Ford I've owned that has this feature - dating back to my 1991 XR3i

I don't have a heated screen myself, but having driven a couple non ford cars and been a passenger in some others, I can agree with your comment about the wires... It's like hairline wires in a specific pattern, I have to say, they're quite obvious and a potential distraction...

I didn't find them an issue on the Fiesta I drove. Fine on the Range Rover and Defender too.

I guess I'm being overly picky, but I do find those little squiggles across the windscreen a bit odd, compared to original screens which are just clear.

It's obviously not as bad, but imagine the rear windscreen being on the front, it's clear to see through, it's just when you're used to completely clear vision, having any kind of barrier or lines, or squiggles is eye-catching

You soon get used to it, I can see them if I look for them (if you know what I mean) but looking straight through the windscreen it doesn't affect me.

Some others may be different however.

Never been an issue for me in over 24 years - think one just gets used to them - or not

Probably right, probably just becomes normal after a while. I've only had them in hire cars or seen them as a passenger, so I guess after a couple of weeks they probably just become normal.

I agree at day time I never notice them, it's just at night with headlights shining at you. They don't really cause a problem though especially after I gave the windscreen a good polish at the weekend.

I've come to the conclusion it's not standard OE, none of Ghias on neither ebay nor Autotrader have the chrome strip. It's certainly an inferior grade of trim to the chrome on the Ford logos, the Ghia badges and the trim on the front grill.

Can't see them on mine but I've never studied the windscreen that closely

I've had heated windscreens for years now with my various fiestas and mondeos, not once unless looking very closely have i noticed the wires, much less be distracted by them. I do wonder how those above posters who feel the hairline wires are a distraction feel about their wipers ;)

You can't fix them, the only option would be to replace.

In the meantime though you could put them through two heat cycles before cranking to compensate.

Been there tried that even three doesn't help but yeah by fix I mean replace lol as long as the wiring is good!

I don't like having been carded by a courier: when I was actually in

He appeared to just pop the card through the letter box, and not bother ringing the door bell. :o

That's happened to me before too. You'd think it would take more effort to fill out the card than to just ring the bell.

Don't get me started on Yodel...

That's what she said...

No, APC, or rather APC's agent Roadlink Logistics.

Unless, they card first as a matter of policy, and hope you won't see them park up

I work in a call centre providing customer service for a major retailer who uses Yodel for its flower deliveries and lets just say I've heard all the bad things you can hear about that courier.

Plus I've had bad personal experiences.

Overall, I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole.

I had a very courteous Scottish call centre caller, this afternoon, from a company whose name I didn't quite catch - Gree something or other. Offering me retail services, when he realised we only are B2B, he was exceptionally apologetic.

Some of my ebay purchases have been delivered by Yodel. Or should I say, some of my ebay purchases, that have been wrecked beyoned use damaged in transit, have been couriered by Yodel
