D13 HPD 95
Phil, have you had any issue or worries regarding head gasket? a few RS's for sale now in the 25k range but always in my mind, the ST blows up its 2k to forge it or £800 for new OEM pistons, but would love an RS, how is it handling wise only ever driven an Audi TT with AWD so not much to compare it to
Philf1
The head gasket issues were mainly on early models mine was a November build and so far so good at 11k miles not using oil or water. Handling is everything you’ve heard sticks like s h it round corners irrespective of how fast or sharp they are. The ride is firm but far better than the fiesta st unless you use the track mode for suspension which is back breaking on normal roads. Performance is awesome you won’t be disappointed. The only downside is fuel consumption don’t expect anything over 30 even on a long run. Mostly around mid 20’s but lower when in sport mode so get a Shell loyalty card and a large credit card balance but let’s be fair your not going to buy one for fuel efficiency are you Sent from my iPhone
Philf1
Thought I’d do a not very scientific comparison of the stop start system on the RS. Two weeks with stop start operating and two weeks with it switched off. Both including a reasonably long journey and both with normal driving to and from work. Results are a little surprising See if you can work out which is which Sent from my iPhone

tazzman600
I'd say bottom is on looking at how many miles left in tank. And yes very suprising and why I've gone hybrid.
Philf1
Yes actually got slightly better by 0.1 mile with stop start switched off. Sent from my iPhone
FatHead1979
So all that extra wear and tear on the starter motor for nowt?
tazzman600
Ok so you get an extra 0.1 mpg with stop start switched off. Explain then how you managed to get an extra 140+ miles before you ran out of fuel.I'm intrigued.

That’s why the comparison is valid. The figure in bottom right you refer to is miles to empty. As I never run to empty but fill up anywhere from 1/2 down but never the same this figure is irrelevant in this test. He's not reset the oddometer at refilling the tank, we're only looking at MPG gauge here - over the distance of ~426 miles
tazzman600
Mmmmmm I've had 2 tit x focus 's with the same dash. The 426 and 427 indicates the trip was indeed reset (well it did in my focuses). But never mind. The fat lady has sung and I'm outta here thank feck
Philf1
God I never thought this would cause so much argument. The trip and average fuel were both reset to zero for both tests. I then drove for almost two weeks covering 426 then reset again and drove 427 miles. The fuel consumption was basically the same 29. The amount of fuel left in the tank and therefore miles to empty are not relevant I’m not even sure how much was in the tank when I started each time because that’s not what I was testing. If I’d wanted to test how many miles to a tank of fuel it would have been relevant. However I know that a tank gives in the region of 220 miles on average. Hope this helps to explain Sent from my iPhone

tazzman600
Excellently put Phil and it cleared up 100% any queries. Your mpg isn't too far down from what I was getting from my ecoboost tit x sport mondeo.
Philf1
Yes but when I drive, let’s say more spiritedly, it drops to low 20’s but for my normal commuting I’m pretty happy with that. It’s definitely got better than when I first got the car. Sent from my iPhone
Philf1
So I had a call from Ford customer service today to tell me my new seat was finally ready and delivered to my local dealer. First complained about it back in July so just the 4 months wait. Going tomorrow to book it in and arrange the first service as well Sent from my iPhone
Philf1
Car is booked in at dealership on Tuesday for the seat to be replaced also 1st service being done at the same time Sent from my iPhone
Philf1
service completed and seat replaced well the leather not the frame so all good again. Clever guys at the dealership realised on the day that they needed a specialist upholstery firm to repair the seat not just a grease monkey so seat had to go to Manchester and took an extra day. Nothing like forward planning Sent from my iPhone 1

Philf1
So I’ve got the Autowatch Ghost fitted and I’m very impressed what a great piece of kit it is. Added bonus on the RS is that I now have auto door locking enabled Many thanks to Safe and Sound in Leeds excellent work https://www.sasmobile.co.uk/view-product/Autowatch-Ghost-Immobiliserwww.tomholroydphotography.co.ukSent from my iPhone
tazzman600
That's a seriously good piece of kit. Reminds me of an alarm system from the late 80's but where a visible box with a key pad on it to key in a code to start the car.Bugger how when I was living in leeds SAS didn't show up when I googled a car hifi centre in leeds. Philf1
No visible keypad no visible warning light so no wires for scroats to trace back to the unit. It’s so small would be pretty much impossible to find it www.tomholroydphotography.co.ukSent from my iPhone
D13 HPD 95
Have you seen the video of this system being bypassed, it’s scary takes the thief’s less than 5mins to have the car back running again, I know ghost where releasing an update to stop it, did you get the updated version? Let me know how you get on with it
