I'd possibly keep it until it runs out (so you keep no claims), and then switch afterwards.

Has anyone dealt with greenlight who are mountunes insurance partner?

That's who I just got my new quote from.

Same price for the car with any mods pretty much.

Fiesta St-3 180 64 plate

26 with 6 yrs NCB.

No points no convictions.

Current policy with hasting is £300 with £75 excess

They want £599 with £300 excess but that includes any visual mods wheels, splitter brakes, springs etc and the mr230 or 215 pack with exhaust etc.

They said I was young so not sure if they prefer maturer drivers?

Lol, I doubt they'll like me much then... Im 21 (they only insure 21+), 1 years NC with a ZS. If they can compete I might switch insurance and get the MR165 :D but if not I'll just wait til the policy runs out and do it then.

Cheers for sharing :D

Intercooler and pipework fitted and what a faf it was. My hands are cut to shreds ;) must remember to use washing up liquid BEFORE fitting the pipes. Intercooler is a tight fit but can be done without taking the bumper off. Gunna give the car a blast later without the map and see if there's any difference then put the map on and compare.

Watch this space.

I've pretty much decided I'd be happy to pay for the MR165 ASAP but I think finding an insurer is going to be tricky... 21, 1 years NC and wanting to do a remap thats over 26%. Insurers don't like that one bit!

The MP135

135-125=10

10/125=0.08

0.08x100=8%

The MR165 is this

165-125=40

40/125=0.32

0.32x100=32%

Admiral is good for that sort of thing

I added "remap 26%+" and they instantly told me they couldn't quote for a car with those modifications haha...

I'm not sure how the insurers figure out modifications, but maybe you would tell them the remap is less than 10%, and then tell them about the other mods individually. Unless they ask for the % power increase for each mod individually.

Yeah not sure, they quote me if I do "air filter" and "Map 11-26%" but if I tick "intercooler modified/enlarged" OR "remap 26%+" I get the:

We are unable to provide a quote for you because of the following reasons:

  • We are unable to insure a car with this type of modification(s)

Get it fitted on a factory order and say it came that direct from the factory, standard ;)

I'm paying an extra 50 od quid on top of my 160 notes annual cost :p

Although I know you're joking, it would be interesting to know how likely it is for undeclared mods to cause problems with insurance claims. I don't know how they inspect cars after crashes or if they actually go out of their way to look for mods, but some things like an intercooler or exhaust might not get spotted. I wouldn't want to risk it though :)

Would I class my car as a "sleeper" ?

Standard / unmodified outside, 165 ponies on the inside

If you take the Mountune badge off ;)

If you really want a sleeper you could start with an ST MR230 and put all the standard bumpers and wheels on it :)
