@The Finance Guy I've got an ABS light come up on the Focus, any chance you could nip up and have a look? 😉😆

Kinda worrying, 05 plate and hear horror stories on what could be the cause! 😳

Must go and get it plugged in as my cheapo reader and App doesn't read it 🙄

I had the ABS light on the Ranger come on not long before I got rid of it. My cheap plug in scanner told me it was a wheel speed sensor but no indication which one. Forscan did the trick though.

And no, I’m not boosting up to Orkney!

I am going round to see my mate tomorrow night as he’s had the ABS warning light come on with his Audi A3....the number of “friends” who I only seem to see when they need a service, or have a dash warning light....

On another note, is there anything similar to Forscan (free) that can be downloaded for VAG cars?

@TomsFocus you might know the answer

Nope.  I have a clone VCDS but even that cost £40. 😮

There are things like Carista as well, but I think that's about £25 and doesn't have all the functionality of VCDS.

Wait...you don't have Forscan? 😮  Should be a requirement for the forum imo!  Either that, or part of the membership pack!

I'm getting stressed out about jobs. Been applying to around 8 jobs now and 5 I didn't even get shortlisted for. I blame the CoronaVirus and it increasing the unemployment population. Makes me worried what career I'll get into.

This hasn't been a good year for me. Heard the girl I liked got married however god showed me she wasn't the nice person I thought she was so dodged a bullet. Don't know what grade I'll get in my masters though hopefully from what I've seen jobs don't really ask what grade you have in a masters just that you have it and now this with job searching.

I might start off as a medical lab assistant then see if there are any training opportunities to register as a biomedical scientist. From there work my way up and hopefully with my masters get into more specialized roles or even management. Never knew this is what life is like after school.

our place are taking on more chemical process operators and lab analyst's. the process operator pays more than the analyst job and no collage is required,

but as your saying there if you can get in to a place as medical lab assistant you can then quickly progress and show skills, a good pharmaceutical company will part fund your training if required and some bring additional upskilling in as part of a yearly employee review; my yearly review has a section where i am encouraged to take part in upskilling courses which is then 20% of my yearly bonus, if i don't do any courses then that's 20% of my annual bonus gone that I wont receive,

you will do very well mate, its only a matter of time and bio chemistry is most definitely the future, we feed in to the biochemistry market more and more each year, also regarding relationships mate as ive said before with zero arrogance towards you; your best progress your career first then the ideal partener would be to find someone working in the same field of work as yourself,

then you are both well paid and operating in a position which you both most likely have a passion for and are highly unlikely to hang up the boots and become a stay at home parent after your first child is born, as in situations where that has happened; one parent is left to run the household bills and pay the mortgage which then has an impact on your employment as you must become less flexible due to your need for a consistent income in a situation like that you would no longer be in a position to take a year out at half your wages to complete an upskilling college course,

best to find someone within the working environment, says Lenny a full time six day week worker for life with a house wife and three children,

you know what i mean?? 😅

I do like finally purchasing a desk for our sons room; whom is about to start his first year in school next week,

i first looked on amazon for a fold out desk, as he is in the box room of the house I needed something which could be stored away when not required, his sisters have a full size desk in there room purchased from IKea as they have more space to facilitate the item,

20200610_122245.jpg.3d6c1b83a64725aa92c4974e1331523b.thumb.jpg.b3e18acc1a6da34e088e38a50ab1aff5.jpg

as saw in my home improvement blog here:

however with his room being smaller; something like this would be ideal, and since the covid19 is still a threat i needed to find a desk soon,

Capture.JPG.771e15b25afc65310e7d4663d596debd.JPG

i wanted to source a desk fairly quick as the school opening isn't going to last a term and I wanted to create a fixed location in the house which is comfortable with minimal distractions and all equipment can be layed out to best assist learning and provide the best opportunity to get the work done rather than trying to complete everything on the kitchen table with back ground noise and distractions such as the dog walking around and looking to be petted or stealing a pencil for the chase around the garden, (He's a right Messer)

I found these fold out desks on amazon which i think are a fantastic idea for small spaces,

I was about to purchase then i saw the reviews from people saying the tried to purchase recently however they were soon refunded as the area of china which they are shipping from is currently restricted due to the global pandemic.

I then went on to google and had a search around as this design concept is quite popular among manufacturer's, i found a uk based company called HomCOM whom manufacture this version and it was available to purchase from amazon but i found it slightly cheaper from a website called Aosom which shipped it out from Manchester to ireland the following day,

I've measured up the room and it will fit on the wall between the window and the partition wall without making contact with the television when extending, it would also go on the right wall but then the side would be visible when entering the room in which case it appears quite bulky, so i prefer to see the front face of it when entering the room as it looks much better and recessed giving the impression of more space.

933500265_20200822_201850451.thumb.jpg.f7730d49ebcc8ea8b0a700c01b3108a4.jpg 1687937733_20200822_201903452.thumb.jpg.49f3e4e901d7694bbbaceb7500c2106f.jpg

it should match in nicely with the white floating boxes containing a satellite decoder and space for games console linked to the television on the wall,

all maximizing space, another good advantage of the desk is that it folds out to consume some of his play area within his room, so the sooner he completes his school work then we can fold the desk away and he has more room to play with his trucks and cars,

i plan to get a poster of his choice and a section of Perspex which i will cut to fit directly over the chalk board panel to make the unit look like a cabinet with a picture on the front rather than a chalk board as i don't want him writing on it.

overall i think its pretty cool and thought id share it with you all, since desks are becoming quite popular this year with people working from home and kids all learning mostly at home too,

thanks for reading.

Thanks Lenny 👍

Yeah I do plan on sorting my career out. Just don't have a definite career I want to get into though I feel may just try for the BMS training and get qualified from there. I want to try and get into the property trade though it all depends on my salary I start off at. Might try and get a property within a year of saving then save for a nice car. Saw a nice private plate though may take a loan out for that to pay for most of it whilst I can save for a car then get another property hopefully whilst working up my career then look for someone. Screenshot_20200820-125405.thumb.png.0db4d6790b5fb5ea93721fc30f3a0587.png

Think I mentioned what I heard about this girl. She got engaged to a distant relative in her second year of uni in her teaching degree. She dropped out uni, had a son back in December and got married in March. One of her relatives is friends with my sister and said she's stuck up and a housewife not doing anything. Don't mean to say all woman who dropped out uni, had a son before marriage and a housewife is bad but these things don't fit my criteria on what I want from someone. Her relative and her friend doesn't like her. She unfollowed her just because she couldn't make it to her wedding for good reason. At least I know I will find someone so much better and respectable.

If I got married to a girl like her financially it'll be hard. The tenants next door pay £1650 a month rent and the husband is working 7 days a week in a kebab shop whilst the wife is at home with her son. Like you said I'd rather have a wife who works so we both can buy our own stuff and save for a property which I can't see one guy doing whilst paying rent and towards the wife.

Aww! Sky news reporting on a baby panda being born. Said it's the size of a stick of butter?

Maybe be more like a knob of butter. Or not even butter. Am I just looking at it wrong?

I do like being given this Auto Glym Kit for free,
20200823_194357_HDR.thumb.jpg.faa96474670f0b8b9d719ea6d8ae8336.jpg
Just been to a small family gathering for my girlfriends mother,
Asked girlfriends brother in-law if he had any scratch remover to get some marks off the sisters car,
got talking about I've been more into car detailing this year than photography, then he whips out this kit,
He gets them with a new Audi and he's been getting new ones for years, he had at least 3 kits never used.
Only 2 problems, I'm a brand fan boy and I've been stocking up with Turtle Wax products,
and it annoys me it comes with a sponge not a wash mitt (not that I'll use it, but seems odd with a kit worth about £100)

Oh silly me 🙈. You guys got lucky.

Want to drive my car. Haven't been driving much due to no places to go to since lockdown.

Started looking at some consultancy jobs. Looks a little overwhelming to me but not bad. Good salary in it also

I do like clearing the ABS light yesterday 👍........

....... I don't like it coming back on as soon as I reached 10/15 mph though 🙄

Looks like a trip to a garage then as the chap who used to do all the work on the Focus has left my work and doesn't have access to a reader anymore.

I went round and had a look at my mate’s A3 today. My handheld obd scanner didn’t even find a code which is weird! I told my mate I’m not paying £40 to get VAG software until I’ve got an RS6....

He mentioned the brakes were scraping but I reckon that’s just because of the mad corrosion on the discs from it being sat so long. Pads were fine. Pin might have been binding up?

I thought the abs light would be a faulty wheel speed sensor, but there’s also a power steering warning light. Weird.
Also it didn’t look like there was ANY brake fluid in the reservoir.

In general, due to how much of a nightmare it is looking at VAG cars compared to Fords (just because of familiarity probably) I told him to take it to a garage and get it scanned proper. If there is a faulty wheel speed sensor I wouldn’t be keen on doing that job for him anyway so might as well get it booked in.

I do like finally being able to add more pics to my Ford related model pics album on here after having issues a few weeks back with the forum.
Just added pics of a second Mk2 Escort RS1800 rally car to the album.
Another Ford kit will be added to the album soon.

Is there anyone that knows about drones? I bought a drone a week ago at a car boot sale and now I have a day off, I wanted to try it but can't get it to fly.

Anyone help? Since I have no user manual of the drone, here is a picture of it.

Not sure it's strictly a like but I passed my old Vectra C today...

It's now twice as old as when I sold it back in 2013!  I'm genuinely amazed it's still on the road.

Funny thing is, it was only a mile from where I bought it...yet I lived 20 miles away for the year I owned it!

I don't have that worry, seeing as both my vehicles don't even have ABS

All the cars I've driven with ABS have either overreacted or been of no help at all in the case of the one car I crashed.  I'd rather rely on my own threshold and cadence braking.
