Not sure if any of you will even be remotely interested in this but it was linked on a local retro car page on Facebook and I've just spent a good 10 minutes watching it!  Nothing happens, it's just pretty cool seeing all the 'old' cars and how the roads/shops have changed in the last 20 years!

Also note how the standard of driving is pretty similar...poor lane discipline, not indicating, rolling back on hills, etc!  Oh, and check out that graphic equalizer!

Nice to see the way things used to be!  Sad to think that some cars which were so popular (like the Peugeot 405) are now practically non-existent.

It's annoying me wondering what that light on his dashboard was on for, as it went off and then back on again when he pulled away...  Seat belt maybe?

I do like getting the all clear from the doctor further to a cancer scare.  Still got lots of problems in my life but at least now I've (hopefully) got a lot of time to deal with them.

  • I do like finally finishing a model kit I first started 5 and a half years ago.  It's a very special model that i was supposed to finish by the time the aircraft took her final flights across the UK

Despite my post in the "don't like" thread I do like getting my back garden under control today, even if it is blowing a hooley out there!!

I do like setting up a guest wifi setting on my internet router

Guest Wifi Network name: Password:COVID-19freewifi

And the password is ofcourse: COVID-19freewifi

I've done this for all my neighbours whom are within range because there all out of work due to COVID-19 except for myself as I'm fortune to me a chemical process operator manufacturing a few parts for a number of a vaccines which are currently in clinical trials.

The kids education is being sent via the internet these days and I don't want to be selfish; so I've created a guest account on my 500mb virgin media router in the event there parents cant pay the bill they can use my wifi hopefully for educational purposes.

Chillin like a boss

Didn't notice the light originally but now you mention it I'm not sure either!

Looks like it doesn't even have PAS so I doubt it'd be a belt warning but really couldn't say!

I did notice an awful lot of Peugeot's in the video, including a brand new 306 on the slip road as 99 was the facelift year!

@RAIDER32 forgot to say happy birthday to you 😊. Do send some before and after pictures if you can of the touch up. Here was a before shot of that mark I had.

Thanks 🙂
I had a look at the scuff, which was originally white so I thought it had gone through the paint,
but after washing I think the clear coat is the only casualty because it disappears when wet,
I lightly sanded it and then used compound and polish hoping there was some clear coat left,
It's just a dull black line now so gonna have to brush a line of clear coat on it.

This really made me laugh 😂🤣

Social distancing before it became mandatory! 😄

I do like the difference spending £10 on a new stylus made to my turntable!  Didn't realise how worn the old one was...

It's a Mk1 Nova apparently...and looks like a choke light!  Not something I've ever come across before lol.

I've also checked a few reg's...that red 405 saloon had done 210k at it's last MOT in 2009!!  And the 'new' Maroon Vectra estate with the dirty plate that kept rolling back on every hill start lasted until 2013 and 135k, presumably not with the same driver!  Sadly the E reg Escort didn't make it to the online MOT recording.  Would've been interesting to see how long the silver Galaxy lasted but the reg isn't clear enough, it looks so modern compared to everything else lol!

That'll be it then, as it went off but then when he pulled away it seemed to stumble and when he revved it up the light came back on again (must have pulled it out again at that point).  Obviously a poorly adjusted carb that needed choke to run properly even warm, like my mother's old Escort!!

Finally got round to watching this, really good video! Some of the cars do look modern still (MK4 Golf and Fiesta for example) and others really old like the Nissan Bluebird I saw at one point. Perhaps I should do the same for now, and post it in 2040 😂

Lol, funny you should mention it...I am genuinely tempted to recreate this exact video when we're out of lockdown!

I'm wondering what the best way to film would be...tape my phone to a piece of wood and tape that across the headrests maybe? 🤔

I wonder how it was originally filmed?  Massive camcorder on the parcel shelf perhaps?

Unfortunately nowadays there are at least a million “Vlogs” of motorcyclists or drivers just mooching around in traffic, so we won’t be short of videos like this to watch in 2040!

Probably 15-20 years ago I had to go out to the island I grew up on for the first time in about 15 years. The job took about 30 minutes but I had to wait 4 or 5 hours for the boat so I went for a drive around the island. I had taken our new(at the time) video camera. I literally duct-taped it to the dash and drove about! 😄 Not watched it in a few years, must dust it off and give it a watch it again.

What island was that Turvey?

edit: sorry I’ve just done what I should have done in the first place and had a look at your profile. I see now it was Orkney and I needn’t have bothered asking!

If anyone's interested the island I grew up on is called Stronsay. It's only a 1 1/2-2 hour boat journey but I've only been back 3 times since I left school! The last time I was quite literally on it for 5 minutes dropping off a skip and picking another one up. I really must go back for longer sometime.

I really need to make plans to visit the islands once this is all over.  It is one of those things I've thought would be nice to do but never put into place, other than visiting Skye many years ago.

I’ve never even been to Skye! I was over on Bute for a bit last year but apart from that not much. Would love to see Orkney and Shetland, and the wife really wants to do all the Western Isles. Drove the north coast 500 last year but wouldn’t do that again for sure.

Got fed up that all the pasty shops are closed so after not making any for many years,I got back in the saddle today.
Not particularly well made but will do the job just fine. [emoji106]

Just close your eyes while you eat them .😃😃

If they fall to pieces the dogs will proff big time.
I know I could just buy Ginsters pasties but can't stand them, the veg is always undercooked and they use mince rather than proper meat.
As a true Janner I just can't bring myself to eat them.
