battery's are not under car warranty

at best these days just limp along to 18 months, then fall over the 2 year warranty timeline just to make you think its OK

Depends on the country, in Romania they changed the battery after 16 months with no comment, so yeah, I would say I was lucky 😄

In my case, I had the same problem in my Focus, in less than 1 year the car started to enter in battery save mode. So I went to a Ford dealer here in Spain and they replaced me the battery for free.

wow its better than I thought...

I'm still stuck on 6.1.0 for a while but don't have any low battery issues so not sure why 6.2.0 is not arriving?

It also didn't arrive, so I think we're stuck for a while with 6.1 until Ford confirms everything is okay with this update and starts the rollout of 6.2

Even though this is not a battery thread one note how I fixed my battery problem in this car: The glove box light switch did not close when closing the glove box. Light was always on. Prove: Put video filming cell phone into glove box, close, review video. Fix: Tape about 3-4mm of something onto the surface of glove box lid at location that presses onto the switch. This was good enough to solve my problem.

Yeah my bad there I guess, though with no battery power means no update!

I can also confirm that none of the issues have gone away with 6.1.

For me the update appeared on the screen in the car, and then on the App (guess the App needs to have something to do now, they have removed most of the good bits from it). It was a bit annoying in the car as it popped up while I was driving to ask if I wanted to update, having lots of words on the screen, though words like "if you ignore this it might take some time to come back", I did ignore it, as eyes on the road! It did pop up again when I got home and it did the install, As normal though power safe started from that moment.

thanks will take a look.

So after testing a bit, the problems persists with the 6.1.0, the map still takes too long to load or does not load, and the sound still corrupts/system stops.

Maybe the Next updates Will fix this, i hope.

Also ik this is not related to the topic, but does anyone suffers with wind noise, more noticiable on the highway

I had a battery issue when I bought my Focus ST.

Don’t know if it was the normal issue or if the battery had been mishandled by the dealer. My car was a demo car that had been discharged several times when I bought it. Could be. Anyway I got problems after two months and had some big issues happen to me like lights behaving, SYNC screen not turning on and keyless not working.

In the end I got a new battery. Everything has worked fine, had start stop working for about 6 months each and every day. Suddenly it stopped working. Then a month or so I got my first warning in the app about saving battery. Drove for a bit. A week later the same message appeared. Two weeks ago I went for long trip, driving almost 500km in two days. When I got home even start stop worked. Then it only took 3 days and I got the saving battery warning again.

Yesterday I did the mobile filming test in the glovebox. It was a little hard to see but I thought I did see some light coming from the side. Then I put some furniture pads on the glovebox raise. And tried again. This time I think it was darker, had no light coming from the side. So it seems this is actually true.

I will talk to my dealer about this when I go there next time.

Hi all.

the software update of Sync 4 on the Ford Focus has been Paused / Pulled for the moment.

If you didn’t receive the update and still on 4.2.2 or 4.2.4 then you will stay on the for the moment.

if you received the update to 6.1.0 then you will stay on this update for now.

No further information other, than the updates are paused until further notice.

I wish 'William Hill' would have taken my bet.

I'd be a millionaire now 🤣

My software now shows software Updated 6.1.0

Previously I had found having the map on full screen seemed to work reasonably OK but still froze on the home screen.

I am now having problems where the maps fail to download. Changing from full map screen to home screen does seem to download OK most times.

However today the map was on full screen and it froze. I changed to the home screen and the map showed the correct location and moved along the road. When going back to full map screen it still showed the map frozen at the same location where it froze. However many times I changed from full to home it was still frozen on the full screen but OK on the home screen.

When home switching off the engine and allowing the screen to go blank made no difference when re-starting a few minutes later as the full screen still showed the location where it had frozen earlier.

I will be interested to see if it corrects itself over night.

MY software shows Updated 6.1.0

I have seen something odd...

... when I get home with a frozen (lost) map and reverse onto the drive the map comes back!

Also keep being told to check the back seat for people whether I have opened the back doors or not, unlike the older software I can't find how to turn this off again!

Enabling and Disabling the Rear Occupant Alert System

To turn this feature on or off:

Select Settings on your vehicle's SYNC®** screen.

Press Vehicle.

Select the Rear Occupant Alert option.

Choose your appropriate setting:

Alert & Horn (if available) - Uses the horn, SYNC screen, and a chime in your vehicle to alert you.

Alert Only - Uses the SYNC screen and a chime in your vehicle to alert you.

Off - Turns the system off. You will receive no alerts.

Child Seat Installed - Removes the need to buckle the rear seatbelt to trigger the system.

Note: If you disable the system, you will receive a reminder twice a year asking if you want to turn the feature on

Updates have been delayed... This is the never ending history!

This might seem a silly question, is it just the Focus which is having these issues?

Not that I'm planning on getting another Ford, but would be very odd.

I posted a link here the other day, it was a discussion between a 30 year served Ford development engineer (who now runs an automotive consultancy business) and Elon Musk

in it he was praising Elon for resolving a long standing canbus fault this engineer and ford had been unable to understand for many years - but admin decided to email me to say he'd deleted it

I guess so, I Didn't heard about this issues on the new Puma/Kuga, maybe because they're too now, idk 😄

Hello, What is the source of this information?

So, early this year ford realise we have a problem with maps etc. Keep promising updates to resolve issue. Start the update cycle then stop. Is this because it is causing other problems, or failing to work?

Ford is no longer fit for purpose. After 30 years of ford cars I can no longer trust the brand to be capable of resolving software issues. Next one will not be a ford !

Same here, had eight Fords over the years but this will definitely be the last. Clearly don't give a damn about solving this issue. Also don't like the direction they're going in with new vehicles, apparently we all want SUVs these days! Not me.

Got 6.4.0 today. No new Software Revision - just some „intelligent Background“-Updates.
