  • Hello All. So today the software we have all been waiting for, finally installed. You must have had Software Module updates first which is Sync Version, 6.1.0, then 6.2.0 will download and i

  • I had mi car updated the other day at the dealer (the promised all-problem-solving-update) after the 6.4.0 update and it works. There are no freezing maps, calls, audio... Now the lane and blind spot

My maps have been feezing for 10 months. Car has been into the garage twice but no fault found. Car updated again yesterday and I hoped it would fix the issue, but no - map has been frozen from home to work this morning. Sat nav is basically useless at the moment. My husband has even been on the phone directing me from Google maps on his computer as I was in a city I was not familiar with.

When are ford going to resolve this issue. My car was fine for the first year of its life but an update last December seemed to cause the issue (hence my hoping this update would fix it).

thats't the sort of info the dev guys need to know - the fact the hardware was once able to function - and when they then broke it

I think you are the first to suggest a regression bug is what's broken it - if true - then it would take almost nothing for them to push the old stuff back on a car, check its happy - and thus its almost nothing to check the the junk code they wrote so badly on that update and resolve it - 24hrs work, 120hrs to mention they need to do it, and another 24hrs to release the fix - so a week not 18 months...

its plain common sense that they have deliberately bred out of westernised humans over the last 50 years - that now accepts we keep allowing three year old's to tamper with efficient design - they can't stop messing up software, adding pathetic features no one normal ever wanted, to absolutely anything that runs on an operating system

I also received the update to 6.4.0 today.
German car, built in 06/2023.

After 2 kilometers the usual error, the mini map stopped while CarPlay was open. Restarted the navigation system, and again after a few kilometers the same problem again.

I also continue to have sound lags with CarPlay.

Did they do anything at all with the update apart from increasing the firmware number?

Edit: everything also worked perfectly for me before the first update. I received the update that caused the problems around 12/2023.

The only change I've noticed since the 12/2023 update is that the seat heating symbols show sports seats. Before that they were normal seats. (Focus ST)

Got 6.4.0 about an hour ago

Gonna test it and see if helps some thing, but no big hopes according to some comments here

I received the third update (6.4.0) yesterday.  After this I did three short journeys (10 mins each) without issue. On my next journey of about 50mins the map froze twice.  I was able to recover from this by selecting 'settings' and then the 'home' key (ie move off the main screen and return to it).  This caused the map to reload and it took a good 20 seconds. An improvement but it is still not working as it should.

Unfortunately 6.4.0 does not fix the issue. Almost 11 months since the 4.2.2 update caused the map freeze problem and still no solution. @Daz-UK have you had any further updates from Ford?

My car updated to 6.2 not 6.4 that everyone else seems to be getting.

No, we knew it was a regression since the beggining. I remeber perfectly that all the problems started 1 week after they updated the software twice. It was very very clear that they made a mistake with one of the updates (or maybe both). That is when we started to discuss the issue on the now dead Ford Pass forum, and now we are here, months later with the exact same issues, just like the first day.

I received the 6.2.0 power up update this week. I am in Spain, just to inform other compatriots.

I noticed the map freeze issue the day after the 4.2.2 update. I started this thread shortly after.

Hi @Al1966 I'd like to ask a serious question (well two questions) of you and the other owners affected by these Sync problems.

From what I can see all of the models are still well within the Ford warranty period. Your own car being one of the oldest, but still a 2022 model.

Why has everyone put up with this ?

and why have you all not just out right rejected the vehicles ? 🤔

Hi, in my case I raised it with the dealer not long after the issue occurred and originally had it booked in for inspection before it became obvious it was a wider software issue that they weren't going to be able to solve it.

I tend to use Android Auto so it's not a big deal for me. I've kept in touch with the dealer but seems that we pretty much know as much as they do.

Was hoping these last three updates would sort it so will contact them again to see if they're any more clued up.

Have had other issues to deal with over the last few months that have meant this wasn't a high priority for me.

It's a pity they couldn't have rolled back the faulty update.

@Daz-UK seems to have reasonable communication with Ford so will be interesting to see what the latest excuse is!

Hi everyone! New here...

I've been having these issues, and some others I think (I haven't read all the thread) in my Focus since the day I bought it. It'll be one year the next November 9th.

In case anyone was wondering if it was only their car: Map freezes, driving modes, signal recognition, lane assist, parking sensors and park assist, emergency breaking and evasive steering, blind spot, audio and call problems (Android auto-Samsung), screen off or not responding, buttons, Glare-free high beam... I may have forgotten some, but everything fails every day.

Just a couple of days ago, the lane assist "pushed" me out of my lane when I was overtaking. Could have ended badly...

I've had the car checked at least 15 times, and the dealer keeps telling me to get it checked one more time, even though they have recently known it's a Ford's system's issue and it will be solved soon. Now they say the issues with the driving assistance won't be solved with the update...

Also today, just updated to 6.2.0

So updates on the 6.4.0, did some shorts trips ando noticed that they problems are still present, Maps freeze and Audio geta corrupted for some brief seconds...

On the positive side (but can be just a feeling) noticed that the menus etc, até a bit smother, although still a bit clunky (wich should also be fixed)

Sorry for the ping @Daz-UKbut do you have any other updates from Ford? Skmce Ford Portugal dosent talk about it

so, it seems it's Ford that don't know when they broke it - or they wouldn't be having such an issue fixing it  - this is again three year old's to the lack of rescue - they believe they are so clever, and then use the incompetent modern management style of believe you know the problem within 3 seconds of the start of a sentence, and move on before knowing ANY details about anything - so we get a halfwit passing on the wrong info to the paedo IT guy, who's is so clever he isn't able to read or listen to anyone, and 18 months on they are still nowhere

The next update should however be the ”fix” for these issues.

It should be a SYNC update. The current being VERY old.

Made in 2023 day 159, which would mean early june. Almost one and half years old.

Sorry for late reply.

Im still trying to confirm what’s happening. I’ve had 6.4.0 and still experiencing Map freezes, but I’m trying to see if there is another part we’re waiting for.

The Sync version is old 23159, which for Ford is unusually old as they update once a year min and I’ve said that this is the ultimate cause 😒

As soon as I have anything I will let you know. The Ford Garages are not aware of anything other than what we have now.

If you have not already placed a complaint with Ford, then could I ask you to. More people that complain, the more it will get looked at.

For UK and Ireland, please use this email. [email protected]
the above is Ford Executive Office.

you will need you Vin, Reg, your details etc.

when the problem started I.e sincere 2023 Sync version 4.2.2

what version your on. I.e 6.4.0 and that you have had the last 3 updates and then list every fault.
of you have been to a dealer too, but they do t have any more updates than we do.

if you are in another country, please email as per your own country website, but I know some Ford cust care in some countries are not interested as such.

I would then email the ceo of Ford for EU as well as local cust care, to see if that helps.

I will keep checking from my end as I’m in the same boat.

you could also try watchdog, what car or auto express, but they never seem interested, especially auto express or what car as it’s always on new cars etc.

But the more complaints they may start to look. Especially BBC watchdog.

I don't think we have a sync update pending for Focus, at least it wasn't announced...

For Kuga, the new Puma, a new version is available.

So disappointed that  Ford abandoned so early this model, I can understand that from the next year it'll be out of production, but you can't leave the existing customers with this problem...

I've been in contact with my dealer and Ford CRC for one year, and also trying to contact the CEOs of Ford Europe and Spain/Portugal and other officials in Spain and I only got the answer of Ford Spain's National Guarantee Administrator saying I have to talk to the dealer as they can't do anything for me, and be patient.

Then the dealer and the CRC told me Ford Spain told them it's a problem only some Focus manufactured in x period have, and the engineers are working on it.

I don't think we can do anything more rather that getting a lawyer...

as long as they still have your money they will never resolve it - when you reject the car (handling back broken trash they can't sell) and then sue (and of course win as you are in the right), only then as they feel it in their pocket will their accountants soon inform the IT boys to stop looking at kiddie sites and do some work

trying to write to screened emails of senior executives can never work - they don't talk to nobody's, they are far too busy on supporting world wide domination for the wrong side, to care about customers or their products

the world you guys believe existed, where you matter, and trying to reach out to senior people who want to help was an illusion that they gave up supporting more than 55 years ago

just thinking, there are some great movies out there that cover car management style / attitudes - just so happens these three cover Ford management particularly well

Flash of genius - ruined a great guy's life after he brings the future to Ford

Made in Dagenham - ruined the entire western world, with fake equal pay act (all we had 30 years on was half pay for all)

Le Mans 66 - marketing idiots hold them back from winning straight away

Just received 6.4.0 power up here in Spain.

in Italy today i recieve 6.2.0

I assume my car is not receiving the updates as it is on the stable version 4.2.1, the last version without problems !
