Maps/Sat Nav issue after Sync 4 OTA Update

Ford are realising the updates in batches to the focus over a 3 week period.

There are 3-4 possible updates, depending on which version your updating from

6.1.0 is the update that set your car up for 6.xx series. Should also update the main console I believe.
6.2.0 will update many things on sync 4 it’s self and a TCU (Modem) to prevent further issues.

Main console has not changed at all after 6.1 update... Waiting for 6.2 if it will happen.

What I've noticed is kind of different smoothness of animations( main display - not dashboard ) while maps are loading and somehow like resolution is lower ( graphics quality ) barely noticeable so maybe I'm wrong.

I can confirm that the 6.1 update does not solve the map issue. Mine was frozen again 10 minutes ago. Lets see if 6.2 does the job.

Just got the 6.1.0, too early to test, but lets wait for the 6.2.0

Yesterday evening got update version 6.1.0 downloaded.

Received an email from Ford customer relations this morning, part shown below:

Please advised will may receive up to three OTA updates when ready to deploy.
These updates will be deployed in accordance with a pre-determined timings schedule and will install seamlessly with a pause between each update. The approx. gap in between each OTA is 1-2 weeks.
Please be advised not everyone will receive 3 updates, this is depending on whether the issues are fixed with the first or second update.

So that’s to say these 6.* updates are intended to fix the sync issues?

I have just received the following information from the CEO office of Ford UK. There will be three updates to solve the issues that we are all experiencing.

The  OTA updates you will receive are:  the ECG (Gateway module) Then SYNC/APIM and finally TCU (Telematics control unit).

The first OTA carried out was for the Gateway module, so you can anticipate further updates In the coming weeks.

I really wished that Ford Portugal wrote emails like that to the clients explamimg the situations. Everytime i contact them they ONLY say that they know nothing or they dont care...

its just marketing

an idiot that knows nothing lying and pretending they care - in my mind is more offensive than the truth - we don't care, you don't matter and you are too dim to notice the plan is for you to die within the next 12 months...

how / why else have we done nothing about climate change, other than let corporations ruin everything in a get rich quick scheme, abusing staff, building rubbish and stealing lots of money to help Boeing and Elon build an escape plan just in case the nuclear war they've got planned doesn't happen (aka vote trump on paper not a pretend AI devil tool)

believing marketing drivel is what has allowed israel to take over the world - whilst halfwits in the UK still think they won two world wars to make it better for the British people (and anything left over to share with their other mates)

Got 6.1.0 today and, as others have already noted, doesn't fix map freeze. Hopefully the remaining two will.

Hej all,

same situation. 6.1.0 was rolled out yesterday. No significant changes. Let’s see how the  the next updates will works.

Got mine up to 6.1.0 the other day too.

Now it's again telling me the battery is too low and super power safe is on again, interior light now don't work!

Charge the battery. 👍

Yeah @unofix it's a common thing with this car, drive hundreds of miles still get told the battery is low! I had a 2020 Focus and even with the 9 months it took to do the first 1k miles it only came up once to say the battery was low.

Spend weeks/months waiting to get into a dealer to be told we charged it and it seems fine, to then get home to "system is shutting down to preserve battery".

I don't know if it's just me however, it seems that these cars spend a lot of time in the dealers. i.e. many loan cars talked about having the same issue...

I had the same problem with the car going into deep sleep mode whenever I opened the boot or doors, even after a long run, changed battery a couple of Months ago for a Yuasa YBX7096 that cost £97 and the car has not once gone into deep sleep since.

battery's are not under car warranty

at best these days just limp along to 18 months, then fall over the 2 year warranty timeline just to make you think its OK

My battery was replaced for the second time under warranty last winter, if Ford can get the fixes out and if I keep this car. Note the two 'IF's' then thanks @Slimgeo I will take a look at that battery.

Looks to be around £150 though.

I will for the first time in 25 years keep a car and not swap it in for a new one and the firth time having battery issues.

The bottom line is battery not fit for purpose, shocking that Ford can't put a larger battery into these cars and along with the OTA update fiasco, poor customer support !

How are you guys getting the update? Does it just show up when you turn the car on like the previous updates?

That's good to know. Ford always strive to maintain consistency with their products 🤣

Any news about 6.2.0? Anyone receive this update?

give it another 18 months -

this week they've almost turned the PC on, next week they'll ask how to use it, the week after they'll try to install the programming language tools... but don't worry IT will have stopped that install for security reasons, and will need to ask the Chinese if its safe or not - and then for 2 month's the guys booked on a training course on how to use it....
