I've just checked my FordPass app and I've now got 6.2.0 too. Will check tomorrow to see if there's any improvement to maps freezing

Are you saying that maps are still freezing after the update?

Yes, that's correct. so this 6.2.0 it's useless.

"My vehicle's connected functions menus are stuck, and I don't know how to fix it... I tried resetting the settings and doing a FordPass reset, but nothing worked... could you help me?"

Sorry Chera i have auto translate 🙂

Good morning,

So far I have only been a silent reader and would now like to contribute to the article with my Ford Focus.

I'm having exactly the same problems: while driving, my navigation system freezes at irregular times and everything, except for the navigation system, still works. This can be solved either by waiting because the navigation system will restart itself at some point or if I hold down the key combination for more volume and next song on the steering wheel.

In any case, I received the update from 6.1.0 to 6.2.0 last night and drove 75km to the university this morning. Of course the problem has recurred and now all we have to do is wait the next three to four weeks until update 6.3.0 arrives.

Best regards

Hi all.
I’ll try to help as many as possible.

6.1.0 is a Module update only
6.2.0 is a Modem only update
There is no 6.3.0 to my understanding.
6.4.0 is the last update to the APIM.

I was lead to believe that 6.4.0 was the Modem update and 6.2.0 was the APIM Update. But it looks like it’s the way above.

6.1.0 and 6.2.0 will not stop the maps freezing etc. This is module updates to allow for the next version.
The modules have to be updated or Sync would fail to install.

Updates are taking anything up to 4 weeks between updates and depends if ur near WiFi or near a decent mobile connection. (Vodafone in the UK)

Ford had paused the updates but restarted last week

I only received 6.2.0 last night and now waiting for 6.4.0 which I believe is the last update.
It may have changed as lots do keep changing at present.
But 6.1.0 and 6.2.0 will not stop the issues. Only module updates for the next update.
Im also not saying 6.4.0 will resolve it until I see it my self.

Are your updates switched on in the system.
the update switch has to be on for Ford to send them to you.
4.2.1 will more than likely first go to 4.2.2 then 6.1.0, 6.2.0 and 6.4.0

I am also still on 4.2.1 and have the automatic updates switched on, so I don't understand why I am not getting the latest updates.

I had the first update a couple of weeks ago.  Still waiting for the second update.

Info below is how to ensure you will get the updates.

Please see below some further information should any further issues arise:

  • How do I ensure that the vehicle will be ready when the OTA (Over the Air) update is ready to be deployed?
Customer to Ensure all connectivity setting tabs including automatic software updates, data sharing and vehicle location are enabled.
Customer is on the latest level of Ford Pass
Ensure the customer has accepted the latest terms and conditions in FordPass and has enabled vehicle health to dealers in their FordPass app data sharing settings.
  • Navigate to the Account landing page and select the Privacy tile.
  • Tap Manage Your Data Sharing and select Vehicle Health to Dealers.
  • Use the toggle switch for On/Off settings.
A time schedule for inhibit updates to take place.
The vehicle is in constant use. If not, adequate preventative drive cycles are carried out to ensure when the OTA is deployed the Battery SoC is above 75%

  • How will the OTA updates install?
Some updates will require the vehicle to be turned off for a short period of time during installation. In order to the customer won’t need their vehicle, we recommend scheduling updates for the best day(s) and time that work for the customer. The customer will be notified prior to the scheduled time if an update is ready to install. The customer can also change their schedule at any time up until two minutes before the install starts. Once the install starts, the vehicle cannot be driven for up to 45 minutes. If certain preconditions aren’t met, such as the vehicle being turned off, the install process will not initiate and will retry at your next scheduled day and time.

Weirdly I've had no map freezes today after update to 6.2.0. Suspect it's a fluke!

Thanks for the information Daz but I have checked everything and all seems good so don't know why I am still on 4.2.1

OTA updates will only commence if the car battery State Of Charge (SOC) is 70% or better. Given that the maximum charge level set at the factory is 80% it doesn't leave much room.

Doesn‘t fix it. No new Softwareversion of SYNC. Furthermore sometimes the map even dont load anymore.

Ford told me to be patient and that there is still one update coming to fix it. At least CarPlay is working without issues now.

I have replaced my battery with the Yuasa YBX7096 so I don't reckon it is that as I've never had the car go into deep sleep mode since.

Did Ford advise when?

Im wondering if all the first 3 updates are Module ones only?

I was only advised of 3 updates at first, but anything is possible i suppose.

If you raise a complaint to Ford, they can email the Tech team to find out why your not getting the updates.

How do I raise a complaint ?

Just received the second update.

Thanks to Daz-UK for what the updates actually do.

You’re welcome Chris.
I’m still trying to get calibration regarding the updates or when the sync version is being updated.

I'm actually at attending the Ford dealer next week. So I’m going to see what answers if any they know now.

I would wish I could speak to the Sync Team direct lol, be so much easier
