Yep, got 6.4.0 on the 30th of October so hopefully won't be long now.

My Focus is an early 23 edition, registered Feb 23, build start December 22.i bought it September 23, it was a dealer car assigned to one of their managers who was leaving.

I haven't had many issues with the Sync to date and have only had one update, this was ages ago as below. It said this was to allow for later updates but I haven't had any.

I did turn off updates for a while with all the issues reported here and the old Ford forum that they sadly closed. But have switched them back on now, but no updates are indicated to be due.

I still didn't receive the 24xxx update, still stuck on 23xxx even if it's been around 1 month from the 6.4.0 update..

Not everyone will get the updates at the same time,

As mention previously, Ford are doing each country differently.  It’s also down to when the VIN numbers are loaded as well.

im hoping you may be in one of the next batches which should be next week

So he use you have switched off all the updates, the car hasn’t been talking to Ford,

this will now take some time.

what will happen is that every so often there is a batch cycle ran, and the system will try to send the update if the car never said its got it.

It can be up to a month, but sometimes quicker.

The update is a patch only and not Sync.

As long as you have had 6.4.0 and everything is on waiting for the next update, then it’s all down to when Ford load your VIN.

This is strange as you should start to be getting the updates.

Are you updates def on, also is the car checking at night as well?

next have everything been switched on regarding the communication part? And are u connected via wifi.?

I turned back on a whole ago.

Might be worth mentioning that I have auto updates disabled, and the scheduled updated disabled and I still get notifications about the new updates. I’m at 6.4 now waiting for the proper sync update to follow. I’ve also got a lot of data sharing permissions set to off as-well

My Feb 2023 Focus is also still stuck on 23-PU2001-PR-FX 2023.

Automatic updates have always been enabled, Schedule is enabled, Sharing data with Ford is enabled.

(Car was delivered to Poland for single-day-registration in Oct 2023, bought in Germany in Jan 2024. The only update I ever got was installed the day I took ownership)

I got the 6.4 update on 30 october.

I have had several alarms of low battery lately. But yesterday I went out for a little bit longer drive. When I go in to the software update page in SYNC I now have a ”Software update downloading” comment instead of the usual..

I guess this means I’m about to get the new SYNC update soon. 😀

How's it going?

So today the audio and steering controls blocked again. Also the lane assist.

Apparently there are some minor updates coming after the big one, and those could make the system fail when downloaded or installed.

They're getting there, just a bit late😅

how does it get its connection ?

most vehicle's run a SIM card for the market it was sold into - many have a fixed contract - just read with Hyundai they have 7 years paid by the manu - then you are on your own...

if it's looking for Polish Mkt phone mast signal it's not going to update ?

The first update was downloaded/installed in Germany and live traffic was working until the subscription ended a couple weeks ago. So I’m assuming, the car is talking to ford servers via SIM.
There is no WiFi where the car is parked, so might have to try my phones mobile hotspot.

Nevermind. If the car would not have a connection through it’s SIM, I would not be able to use the FordPass app. But I can see location, tyre pressure, etc. just fine and I am able to remotely start the car.

Mine updated today. But can't work out if anything has actually changed.

Any obvious changes?

I just had to reply, because it is so infuriating. I got my car in October 2022 and the exact same issues started happening almost exactly one year later. My whole family drives cars made by Ford for as long as I can remember and this is my third Ford that I am driving myself.

My dealership doesn't seem to care and I've been talking to Ford Germany over the phone for several months by now. Today my screen stayed completely black and didn't respond to anything. The camera was still working while backing up but as soon as I was changing back to first gear it went black again. I wasn't in the car dir that long today, tomorrow I will be driving for a longer period of time hopefully it starts to boot back up again.

I know for sure that this will be my last car made by Ford and I am contemplating to sue if I am getting more and more issues.

Sorry just had to rant a bit. I can't understand why Ford will let something like this happen seeing how many people are running into the same issue.

people forget - they make car's - not smart phones and PCs - and use hardware they get for pennies

today we all think £1200 of electronics we throw away every two years and slick software they update every four hours should be available in all our cars - when the car manu is working with £50 of electronics that needs to last 20 years and comes with 4 quids worth of terrible software they released when it almost switched on ....

its not going to be the same experience

Is the screen blackout because your system is updating to latest software.  See below written in earlier post of what to expect when system finally updates. Hope this is what has happened.

1st Boot. This showed the Ford Logo and then the whole screen went completely off (Dead) for 10-15 Mins
(I was worried think the system had completely failed)
(Do not do anything, touch anything, or turn the car off etc, the 1st part of the update is installing in the back ground) (You have to be patient)

Thank you, it indeed was the system updating. Thank God. I am wondering why they couldn't show a progress bar or something like that to show the end user that there is an update loading.

I was driving for about 40 minutes this morning and so far the system didn't freeze so I'm having my fingers crossed that this odyssey is finally over!

Hi all.

this review is really important if you are getting ready for the last update to the Sync unit.

it will explain everything in what is going to happen.

its a long update, but it is extremely important to read

@the_sabbe

if you haven’t please read my review as  this will help with the last update

Hello All.

So today the software we have all been waiting for, finally installed.

You must have had Software Module updates first which is Sync Version, 6.1.0, then 6.2.0 will download and install, then and 6.4.0 will install next.

Only when the last update is installed (6.4.0) you will eventually get the below

from
Sync Software Version
23159 ➡️ 24145

Revision
915 ➡️ 1286

Good
1) No Map freezing
2) No Garbled Bings
3) No Dropped Calls
4) Smoother Animation
5) Home page now shows network signal if phone has Apple Car play

Changes
1) battery Icon no longer shown as per image if connected via Apple Car Play

How it Installed.
4 Boots of the system in total
On starting the car this afternoon the car did the following.

1st Boot.

This showed the Ford Logo and then the whole screen went completely off (Dead) for 10-15 Mins
(I was worried think the system had completely failed)
(Do not do anything, touch anything, or turn the car off etc, the 1st part of the update is installing in the back ground) (You have to be patient)

2nd Boot. The car will boot up automatically after it has installed the first update.
The Ford Logo will suddenly appear and boot Sync Up.
You will notice
Maps may not work and say updating / Loading
Intelligent Cruise/Cruise control / Speed sign recognition will malfunction and advise it’s not available.

(Don’t Panic)
If you’re at this point, allow 5 to 10 Mins for the 2nd part of the update to install.
I had to switch of the car, lock it and allow to go to sleep (Allow a few mins for the car to shut down and the Sync 4 unit go to sleep.

3rd Boot on starting the car, Maps, Cruise Control, Speed sign recognition came back online.
A further 5 - 10 Mins passed and I received a message that the software was successfully installed
I still noticed a little sluggish using the system, but this can be normal after a brand new version of software is installed. So I turned the car off, locked it and went in for some food.

4th Boot
After some food and leaving the car for a few hours, On this boot, Sync 4 booted up as normal and was running very smooth and everything loading, working fine.

I’ve not noticed and new menus, animations or anything. Just a system that works and feels much better.

I wouldn't say it feels polished finished, but it’s 100 times better that what we had.

Possible Issue
1 thing I have notice and will keep monitoring.

When entering the main menus or radio etc, I’ve notice the little maps it can show on the right side or left side, depending on the country. This can take some time to first load with the circle going round saying updating.
After it loaded , it was fine for the rest of the drive and was fast on showing the maps when flicking round the menus.

Now this is my experience and you may or may not get the same as me.
But I wanted to share it so if you do, you will know what to expect.

Pictures are added on page 16 and also the Software Version and Navigation Version in maps.

the review was placed original on page 16

If any one has any questions, please let me know and good luck 🤞
