My update showed as starting when getting car out of garage today. I had put it on trickle charge overnight but not sure if this kicked in update as battery always shows 85%.   Had a reply today from ford customer care who I had contacted on Monday and their reply stated that battery had to be at 75% in order to get download. (Very close to the set 80% !!!). I will now watch and wait and trickle charge again tonight as I do not often do a long journey. At least from this thread I know what to expect.

So guys, I took the car after work and I see a new revamped UI! Is it how it should be? Even if the sync didn't say that it updated and if I go in updates it says "not completed" and "ford will release a new update in the following weeks". I've set automatic updates every day at 1.00 am.

 

The BIG problem is that it is a bit (lot) bugged, I don't know if it is so because it is its first boot and tomorrow morning I see it in a best shape.

As you can see, everything changed and moreover the AC section (clima in Italian) is completely messed up. It doesn't have an icon and If I click it everything small and a lot of things are not shown (like temperature). I didn't manage to turn it on during my ride back to home.

Check it tomorrow.  Something like this happened, but more with a different menu.

 

let all the updates install and get the confirmation first it’s complete.  You can always do a master reset after.

Sadly nothing changed this morning. If I go in software updates it says "not completed" and "ford will release another update asap". What does it mean?

I had similar case one year ago with 4.2.1 update.

It failed during installation and I even had " Lincoln " logo instead of ford during bootup for some time. In my case after this failed installation maps were not working at all . Dealer was not able to fix this issue ( was not able to reinstall sw ) so I had to wait till ford will centrally push new OTA for my car..

I assume you have a similar case that something has messed up your SW during update - it was not properly installed and now Ford based on telematics will see at some point that update has failed and will push next/ one more time update for your car.

That's really sad to hear 😔 how much did you wait until they fixed it?

3-4 months ... On that old ford pass forum there was "Rob" who was asked me for VIN code - day after that I got system update.

For sure try with dealer if they could fix this mess , and of course make sure your battery state of charge is > 75% ..otherwise no chance to get any further update 

So updates downloaded stage 1 of black screen 10 minutes. Rebooted map rotating loading icon message maps updating, 90 minutes later still same message, including two switch off car by myself.  Then on next restart maps there and message 'software update complete'.

I post this as to advise that second stage for me took quite a time. All seems OK, time will tell.

Hey, can I ask if you have the new UI as me or not? Because I'm starting to think that mine is completely f*ed up

I have exactly the same UI as before. No apparent changes to layout or menu displays.

I've received the update, let's see in how much time it'll be completed/

Yes, I haven't received any updates.

Probably a battery issue, stupid car refuses to charge the battery properly. Did not event reach 70% after 2hrs 130 km/h drive on the autobahn. And I don't have an outlet in the garage to plug in a charger.

modern cars come with die fast batteries
under spec wiring looms - particularly on the big starter and charge cabling
way too much current draw, with budget electronics that eat power for fun
come with start stop destroy my car features

thus expecting the electrical system to cope forever is unreasonable  - if the battery has had it, no amount of charging is going to help

 

 

My update completed yesterday. All seems good, no issues with maps or sound. Like someone else noted the word 'rear' has disappeared from the heated rear windscreen button - don't know if this is deliberate or not.

Just one week before the first birthday of my original post on this topic my update finished successfully 👍.

Leaves me scratching my head.

On the other side, i also know the other side of the story: Dependencies in SW updates between modules, making sure not to ground the complete fleet by update failures, suppliers not being able to deliver, a network of ECUs from different suppliers...

Things that make life comfortable and easy have the tendency to be complicated inside, and sometimes they make life uncomfortable and uneasy. "Computers help us to solve problems, we would not have without them."

My sync update is still downloading.  Six days so far.  Might be due to being in a relatively rural area with sparse phone towers.

my sync is updating.. Has anyone noticed that CarPlay is a bit jerky in screenshots?

When Sync is updating in the background, you will def notice jerkiness all over. 
this is because software is taking a lot of the process power.

 

I can however confirm, there are no issues when the software is full complete regard Apple CarPlay.

There are large files it needs to download, so it will take some time.

If you can connect to wifi or even park near a Vodafone Mast for a while, that will help.

Even when you go from the main Carplay screen to the screen with all the Carplay apps, do you notice clicks?

Me neither. I am still on the priority update of 2023. Following this thread for a while already and registered just now.

I bought a Focus in April 24. date of manufacture 14 February 2024. there has not been a single update so far. My sat nav does not freeze. When I change the driving mode, the sound freezes briefly. In addition, the USB stick is often re-indexed when I restart the vehicle. I measured the battery voltage with a voltmeter: 12.5 volts. Then fully charged again to 13.6. Still no update available. All check marks are set.

Thanks a lot for this. I noticed the same. Someone hinted with a photo on where to look from the side, but I can't find that post anymore. I taped somerhing on the lid and now the light is off when the lid is closed. I'm curious if this will solve the problem.
