Zico
I didn't quite like being woken up at 7:30am by the flat intercom that sounds like a combination of lorries reversing and a fire alarm. I did however like that my new microwave arrived far quicker than expected (even though I tried to go straight back to bed).

iantt
My partner was asking when her daughters car was due mot. I checked and found it's due by the 21st Jan. So I checked tax also, due 1st Feb. Then noticed at the bottom of tax checker the last log book change was Nov 2013!!! We bought the car last Feb for her daughter to learn to drive in. I didn't have anything to do with the paperwork and v5 transfer , my partner sorted that out with the trader. Or so I thought. As it wasn't my car , I wasn't the one looking out for the new keeper logbook in the post last Feb. I just at questioned this and got a blank look. Have we got a log book?? Nope! Still registered under the original owner. 🤭🤭😂😂😂

TomsFocus
I don't like that the graphics on my laptop are failing badly over the last few days. Lines across the screen, black flashes, green/blue dashed outlines etc. I have been looking for a new laptop but was hoping to keep this one for use with car programmes! I keep missing decent offers annoyingly! I think I know what spec I want in a laptop but the one thing I'm not sure of is which processor to go with - AMD or Intel? I think I've only had Intel so far (current laptop is a 2013 with an i3 processor) so don't know whether to go for a later i5, or swap to an AMD Ryzen 5 instead? I guess it make some difference as manufacturers seem to use both rather than sticking with just one each?

I always liked and used intel, my desktop has an i7 and laptop has an i5, both devices are Dell, I suggest logging on to Dell website and have a look, I saved over €150 buying the same spec from Dell rather than in my local Currys store, and it has a built in illumated keyboard which can be switched off, bought a nice bluetooth mouse to go with it, links to the laptops built in bluetooth. I bought it last September, needed a second device for our kids learning from home due to covid outbreaks, there different ages; in different schools so required to be online at the same time, had to set up a second device, all logins on both devices are synchronised so the devices are first come first serve, aswell as network attached storage in the plan for easier access to files regardless of device. Anyway main story, I love the Dell laptop
BigLen
I don't like having now spent €256.00 on purchasing various Hotwheels cars from different sellers this month ranging from €2 - €15 all in packaging which I was first to remove, I'll post some pictures when they all arrive by mid next week, Have them staged on shelves in different categories. There nice to look at, and addictive to purchase especially when there 1989 honda civic, nissan Silvia S16, AE86 Levin, Audi Quattro, MK2 escort, Volvo S60 estate, 1999 Subaru Impreza, lemans Mustang GT, honda Prelude, honda S2000, focus RS, fiesta rally, nissan fairlady 80's model, etc.

I have Ryzen 3700x with a Nvidia Geforce RTX 2070, can play some games at 3840x2160 and 60fps on ultra settings and others like the division 2 on 2560x1440 with some settings a little lower than ultra. Ray tracing is the way to go with graphics these days and the new geforce ti 3060 cards are quite good value for money considering this 2070 cost me over £600. I upgraded my pc recently from having an old dual core quad processor, the performance difference is immense. Ah, I don't game on the laptop (have an Xbox for that). When I say graphics, I mean I can barely even read the forum now lol. Your build looks very cool though!
erictcleric
AMD vs Intel: pick whichever you can find/suits your budget. Intel tends to be better performance-wise, but AMD is slightly cheaper. I've usually gone for Intel myself, but my next desktop will be AMD because of the price. I would definitely recommend at least an i5 or Ryzen 5 though; should last a bit longer than the lower spec'd chips.

Unfortunately tech these days isn't built to last, it's built to be replaceable in a few years time. I will say one thing though, don't buy a Toshiba laptop. I bought one a few years ago and the HDD's kept failing. I had 3 replacement HDD's and they all failed. I had 2 replacement laptops and the HDD's went in them too. 28 minutes ago, erictcleric said: AMD vs Intel: pick whichever you can find/suits your budget. The pcu lasts much longer if it is not OC’d, but this doesn’t really matter if it has sufficient cooling, AIO watercoolers are very effective with keeping temperature down. High Temperature levels are the definitive pcu killer. This is definitely how I sound when talking to non-car people about engines... 13 hours ago, Nick Y said: That sucks Tom. In fairness, it's done much better than I could've expected, I wouldn't expect a 2020's laptop to last as long now. I only had a desktop at the time but needed something portable and more powerful for a new business venture (vinyl cutting, didn't work out!). However I was quickly converted and rarely used the desktop again...so the laptop has done at least 4 hours a day, every single day, since mid 2013! All on battery power since mid 2015...on it's 3rd battery now lol. Can't say I'm surprised the graphics are finally failing, I think it's the connection between the screen and base that's worn through all the opening & closing rather than the graphics chip though. It has had other issues for a while, never really took to Win10, has been slow ever since the update and lost decent sound (unsupported drivers I guess), and the HDD has been making horrific grinding noises randomly for the last couple of years. So it's definitely due for retirement, but I feel I've had more than moneys worth at a cost of £350 when I bought it. Toshiba weren't even on my radar but I will be sure to avoid them! Also specifically looking for something with an SSD rather than HDD this time. Probably looking at Dell or HP. I'm still keeping an eye out every day for a decent deal but if it died completely today and I had to buy another in a rush I think I'd probably go for this one - HP Pavilion 15-eh0018na Touchscreen Laptop - AMD Ryzen™ 5 - HP Store UK I also like the idea of B&O sound...that's a £500 optional extra on Fords! Don’t get me wrong, it is a good thing that drinks companies are catering for the dry drinking crowd, but seems like sacrilege to those who enjoy the “full fat” version. I quite enjoy a “zero” beer, the ones that actually taste like beer are good but there are some ones that are a bit strange. Erdinger zero wheat is nice but has an acquired taste. There is surprisingly a growing amount of different types of alcohol free drinks, like wine for instance, that just tastes like grape juice, I cannot comment on the taste of the other “spirits” but for those who drink alcohol they would never consider drinking those things anyway. I'm not a drinker either due to my mental health issues but I do enjoy some of the non-alcoholic drinks available. I've found with beers/lagers that Budweiser zero still tastes like actual Budweiser. Beck's leaves a nasty aftertaste, as does Heineken. Old Speckled Hen is a nice beer but I was a bitter drinker and haven't found a good non-alcoholic replacement yet. As for wines, some do taste just like grape juice but others do still have that wine zing to them. I'd love Jack Daniel's to do an alcohol free version as I did like a nice JD and coke. TomsFocus
Ahhh, so that's why they've dropped the 1.5EB from the Focus! It's made by the Americans and costs too much to ship over since Brexit! Over £30k for a Puma ST!! https://www.standard.co.uk/business/business-news/url-cars-extra-cost-brexit-fiesta-b872198.html?amp
Eric Bloodaxe
The 1.5 was made in Bridgend before closure of course. Do they really not build it anywhere else in Europe? The prices quoted for the Fiesta ST are a bit of a gift to Hyundai and their forthcoming I20n - they could significantly undercut that or have a bit of wiggle room to up their own prices and still come in under the Fiesta. I had been giving vague consideration to the Puma ST but at that sort of price may as well look at the Focus ST. But hang on, isn't the 2.3 an American engine as well?

Unless they decided to up the price to maintain the same gap from the Fiesta/Puma.

Nick Y
I didn't like having to get my little fezzy of a snow and ice covered drive this afternoon. It took me 25 minutes to fully clear the car of snow (3 inches) and ice and then 10 minutes of concentration and extreme care to get the car off the drive and onto the road. All I could smell for miles was clutch because my drive is an awkward shape and uphill. I also don't like that everywhere has sold out of grit/salt and snow shovels. I managed to get a small snow shovel but it was useless and overpriced. Getting off the drive and on to the main road has been made harder by gas works outside at both sides of the driveway and pavement.
TomsFocus
I don't like that everything I've tried to buy this month is sold out...have I mentioned how impatient I am? Wanted a new toy to keep me occupied while having to wait another 6 weeks for the new car... Keep missing laptop deals, Xbox Series X sells out as soon as it hits stores, even a Pure DAB radio, all sold out...just seen a nice hoody in the Hollister sale and of course my size is sold out as well!
