Things I Don't Like

Featured Replies

Daft thing is, I would pay less for a newer, more powerful car! I guess there are a lot of mk2.5 Focii crashed due to the amount on the road or something.

I'll be 24 next month, so only a year to go for cheap insurance then.

Probably where they were hit by old people...

Honestly, I see far more 'accidents' caused by elderly drivers than young ones. Just yesterday I watched an old man turn into a space with no indication knocking over another man that was just walking across the car park. That was shortly after trying to join a 70mph dually behind a Micra full of old people doing 35 (who had already caused a domino of brake lights by taking the left only lane and cutting across straight ahead)...how they feel safe joining traffic at half speed I really don't know, definitely doesnt make me feel safe! <_<

Also watched an elderly couple in a single car accident where they crashed into the central reservation of the A12 on a warm, dry day a few months back... I don't know how they manage it!

I'm not defending young drivers, as I'm sure there are some idiots about, I just never seem to see them but they still get the worst rep. :(

Yep . . . some old & young alike - the sooner there are compulsory retests every 5 years the safer the roads will be for the rest of us & emptier too

Although, would probably put a lot of folk out of work and drive down car prices too!

If they can't pass a driving test that measures the minimum ability to drive unsupervised - get off my road ! :)

Problem there is, the world we live in is designed around cars now, all the major shops are 'out of town' for cheaper land, people/families are spread a lot further than they used to be, work is often further than a walk. And hospitals/care homes/specialist hospitals are not often local.

Of course it makes sense to only have 'perfect' drivers on the road, fewer accidents, cheaper insurance, etc. But when it comes to real people with real lives there are a lot that rely on cars. I'm on both sides of the sides of the fence here. :(

I probably wouldn't pass a test today myself, I can drive fine, but not in a stressful situation like a test. Plus I cant reverse round a corner perfectly...but when do you ever do that anyway lol, I can sqeeze between two parked cars no problem.

Sad fact is that more under 25 males die in car accidents in the U.K. than any other age group & 100% more than under 25 females killed.

It has long been recognised that females are generally safer drivers & until the E.U. meddled, this was recognised with lower insurance premiums.

Of course not all under 25 males are idiots intent on dying in their tin box, but insurers recognise this death rate & that's why insurance premiums for this age group can seem to be extortionate, whereas the insurer is simply recognising the increased risk.

There are no '' perfect '' drivers on the roads - only safe drivers & unsafe drivers . . .

Some driving instructors are perfect drivers lol...

The drive back from the test centre was the smoothest drive I'd ever been passenger in...didnt feel any gearchanges or anything! However he did pip a freind on the way home so would've failed a test for incorrect horn use.

Ha ha :) - nope, not even Driving Instructors are perfect - just generally highly experienced & skilled in the art of controlling & operating a car or other vehicle safely & many I've come across are very good teachers too . . . .

No doubt by using his horn he was making his friend aware of his prescence . . .

people calling old folk poor drivers , iam 66 years old and drive a st /cooper s / and two motor bikes fireblade and hornet do track days ,never had a problem ,too me its the younger drivers trying to race me , have you ever try racing a bike which can do about 90 m.p.h in first its a no go , so thy are bad drivers in all age groups

Old drivers aren't the problem, it's the old drivers who have lost all depth, speed and awareness and perceptions around them that are the issue. My grandad had a crash when he was 75, he hung his gloves as he didn't feel safe and was aware his perceptions were dwindling.

I followed a very old boy in his Corsa on my way back from lunch.

He went so slowly around the roundabout it caused a queue, it took him about 30s to get up to 25mph off the roundabout.

Then there was a bin lorry on the opposite side of the road up ahead which oncoming cars were going round.... He wasn't slowing down.... Then did VERY late and suddenly, very slow reaction time...

When I think old person, I mean 70-75+. This boy was 80+.

Sadly the reason most old folks have this stereotype image

It does start going up again even with full NCB when you get to a certain age (70 maybe?).

Was dissapointed mine went up last year with 6 years NCB! Only paid £300 odd for the Vectra in 2013, went up to £400 odd for the slower Focus in 2014. <_<

Will have 7 years NCB in March, hope it doesn't go up again. :(

Judging by my Mum's and her even older friend's insurance, not a lot happens increase-wise until you reach 80, then it starts to jump up about £100-£150 a year.

At around 90-92, you will be paying the same with your full NCB as an inexperienced new driver of 17. It get quite silly price-wise if you insist on driving after 95

66 is hardly old these days!!

I don't like that it's still getting dark too early :(

Needed to set up all manner of work lights, to prevent shadows falling on my workspace. Just to be able to change the bulb of one of the security lights. Only to find, I haven't got any spare left :o

I got my new dashcam on Monday, but haven't been able to fit it due to dark evenings.

Having it wait until the weekend.

At least we are past the winter solstice, so the days are getting longer, even if we can't feel it yet...

My dash cam suction mount won't stick to the hatched area by the mirror on the new windscreen. :(

Was there fine on the old screen somehow lol!

I had that.... I had to velcro it to the windscreen in the cmax but in the Mondeo it just sticks... Weird!

I don't like spending the evening with paracetamol, ibuprofen, multivitamins and a tub of VapoRub...

Of course as luck has it I have an important test at work tomorrow - so that's bound to go well, if I even make it into work that is!

Hopefully I'll drug myself up tonight and will awake feeling alright tomorrow.

Volunteered to do 12hrs at work tommorow, then as evening wears on realise its an early start . to late to change my minnd:(

How much of that will be overtime?

4 at 1,5 times. Doing that was fine when your 20 something, no so easy as you break the half century and a bit. Lol

A few years ago it was quite the norm to go to work for 3am and finish 6pm, not every day but once a week.

Oh I know that feeling well - "overtime remorse" as I call it

Yeah, that's true.

I remember hardly bothering with sleep, just working all the time, through the night and through the following day: essentially having a 3 day week of 40 hours days

Struggle to do that now - a 20 hour day is probably my limit. And that assumes, it wouldn't come round any more frequent than once every 6 months LOL

I meant car sales folk, car dealers, garages, factories where they build cars etc etc...

Driving instructors too...
