Eric Bloodaxe
I've got no working printer now, with most things being paperless, and many friends are in the same position. Ironically, the only time I've needed one lately is when helping a friend sort out the mess a so-called "financial adviser" had made of her savings/investments. We found in several cases banks, etc, required a "wet" signature and expected you to complete a document online, and then print it off to sign and return. We ended up having to get a hard copy of the forms sent to the nearest branch that was still open, and doing it there.

TomsFocus
Todays don't like is a totally flat battery on a portable air compressor.聽 I usually recharge it after use but may have forgotten last time.聽 Was probably 6 months ago, if not longer.聽 So maybe my fault, may not be.聽 I assume it's a lithium battery like a phone/laptop. Had it plugged in for about 3 hours, charge progress light was flashing but never went solid even for one bar.聽 Unplugged and tried, lasted about 5 seconds before dying again. Is there any way to revive a flat lithium battery or is that the end for this compressor?
unofix
26 minutes ago, TomsFocus said: Is there any way to revive a flat lithium battery The problem with lithium batteries is they do have a bit of a reputation of spontaneous combustion when you least expect it. 馃檮 In a workshop, you could try using a bench power supply and increasing the voltage until it started to take a charge. In the house I personally would advise against trying anything like that.

unofix
Just now, StephenFord said: mmm... well, they make 'car specific' batteries right now for ICE cars? They do indeed. What i was meaning that in 10 years time will you be able to buy a new battery for say a 15 year old EV. Since it seems each EV has a custom made battery, it would require a huge range of replacement vehicle batteries. Perhaps a new industry will spring up doing full battery refurbishments of the original provided of course the case and hardware is in serviceable condition.

I have never ever had an electric device fail on me after being left for a while. My last fridge/freezer was over 35 years old before I had to get rid of it because I could not source a new seal for it. My washing machine, and tumble dryer were over 25 years old, disposed of because of lack of parts. My Dyson, is from 2002, and when plugged in, fires right up. I just have an extreme dislike for anything 'battery', as it's inherently a huge built in weakness... I do accept that some gardening tools I have that are battery (hedge trimmer, lawn edger, chain saw) are exceptionally useful without an electric cord!
