I like going home tomorrow and speaking English again! I'm sick of German now.

Can't wait to be behind the wheel of my car again.

I do like getting paid early.  Unfortunately the 405 is stuck at the garage until they open on Monday (unless I use the spare key and "steal" it!), but I can fill the Hyundai up with petrol and go out for a drive in that, albeit at 20MPG...

You never know, Boris might be a Ford enthusiast: a pleasant distraction from all his political activities.

I do like an unusually sunny day.  May even get the grass cut later if I am feeling energetic...

I do like a relaxing Sunday with a bottle of whisky and my turntable.  Tomorrow I'll pick the 405 up from the garage and have a day out.  I can't wait to drive that old girl again!!  As much as the Hyundai is a great vehicle and its automatic transmission makes everything easy, it makes it too easy.  I like to actually DRIVE a car, having to shift gears and put effort in when steering.  You don't get that from a modern car, and that's precisely why I'd never buy a new car.

I do like vacuuming up 6 Dyson fulls of spare fur from the house to blend with mowings for the compost, particularly as the volume of shredded paper this week is down:smile:  It seem junk mail goes down in the summer:mellow: and whatever happened to thick and very shreddable free newspapers?

I must encourage the cats and Brandy to keep up with their summer moulting, perhaps by turning the heat on and up to 30°C:lol1:

You had sun?  It's very autumnal down here, if were not for the 23°C temperature, you'd think it was October:ohmy:

I'm sorry for getting political on here... I know it's more of a light hearted thread...

but all the rubbish about voting for a second referendum because they lost is driving me mad... found this and was laughing so hard:

That's hilarious:lol:

mmm...Let's see now, petitions I could start:laugh:

The summer of 2009 was far too wet:  I'll petition the HM Government for a rerun of July 2009 through to October 2009, but this time with 50% less rain, and the rain can only fall in the evenings after 9pm and must finish before Brandy takes her morning stroll.  With the proviso, blight is forbidden from entering Dorset

I didn't see Haleys comet go by in 1986, for it was cloudy : I'll petition HM Government to send it round again, but on a clear night.

As child, my then favourite 18 inked multi-coloured pen fell out of my jacket pocket into the English Channel whilst crossing from Portsmouth to Le Havre.. I was quite upset at this: I'll petition HM Government to drain the English Channel and get the British Consul to recover it

Can I request a different outcome of the battle of Hastings in 1066  . . . . . .

In all seriousness, without democracy there can only be anarchy & dictatorship & the referendum vote firmly rejected that path.

I do like having a dry and sunny walk with Brandy, despite her still being troubled with the after effects of too many bowls of milk.

It is very difficult to call a 1.9% majority a "firm" result. It simply proves that the electorate is deeply, and almost equally, divided.

I do not know whether Cameron, or the Government, has the authority to request an Article 50 route to leave, without Parliamentiary assent. And that is regardless of a referendum result. Here is an interesting quote:

The referendum result is not legally binding - Parliament still has to pass the laws that will get Britain out of the 28 nation bloc, starting with the repeal of the 1972 European Communities Act.

And there is no certainty MPs will support the legal changes.

A unilateral exit would require even more drastic legal changes, that could only be sanctioned by Parliament.

And, despite some of the words being spoken, the EU can not evict a member state, unless that state breached fundamental EU principles relating to human rights and democracy.

Therefore, before any exit procedure can commence, a general election, with a parliament with a new mandate from the people, may be needed. And this mandate would over-ride the referendum result.

One thing is for certain, there is no quick, easy way out of this mess. Is it goodbye UK, goodbye Great Britain, goodbye being British. Hello little England, a small, uncertain and damaged country in a big, hard, ruthless World?

I am very, very sorry also, to draw politics into this thread, I find Nothing to laugh about in it.

Peter.

Peter.

The difference was in fact 3.8% not 1.9% . . . . & that 3.8% represents circa 1.3 MILLION more people in favour of leaving than remaining. That figure is firm enough to be overwhelmingly democratic.

The worst stat' by far is that 28% of the 46.5 million entitled to vote, couldn't be bothered to vote & evidently don't care who governs them & whose laws they are subject to.

I do like driving the 405 for the first time since it's near death experience!  For only a £25 repair (new subframe bolts) the car feels like brand new.  I think the bolts must have been loose since I bought the car in February, as the front end has never felt as "tight" as it does now.  Even before the serious issue arose (I.E not being able to steer), there was always a clunking from the subframe and a general feeling of something moving around, which I thought was just a worn engine mount.  That is now 100% gone and everything is back to normal - in fact - better than normal.

Just goes to show that you can get a positive outcome from a negative situation, and everything happens for a reason.

Re Tdci Peter and Monday do TXS. Even 3.8% difference isn't a big enough majority for something so important. I'm on of the 28% who didn't vote. Why? Coz I've recently relocated and am not on the books yet here in Yorkshire.

To me for a major referendum percentage must be 80 to 20%.

When we vote for national elections isn't there a line that has to be crossed to be a majority? I'm damned sure it's more than a paltry 2.8%. To me that referendum vote was a waste of time and effort. On its own this country is knackered coz most if not all the clever intelligent people are living abroad somewhere who can possibly make this course try great as it was in Queen Victoria 's day.

I do like that Brandy is starting to get over her milk overdose, she's managed to sleep uninterrupted for over an hour now without an alarming  loo alert:smile:

I also like the forecast appears to be wrong, it's still warm and sunny here.  I shall go and mow the lawn shortly at 40mm:smile:

Ooops sorry for the miss spellings on my last post.

Apology to you Mondeo TXS you name came out wrong.

Country is what I meant when those who can make this country great again are elsewhere happy with their lives.

I do like having my first during lesson today! My instructor seemed pretty impressed with what I can do so far.

Also new wipers and carpet mats turned up for the Focus, mats are in and will fit the wipers when I next wash it!

Glad to hear that Chris.  Best of luck for your theory test too, I'm sure it'll go well.

I've never been a fan of carpet mats, mainly because we always end up driving/walking in muddy areas so they just get too dirty.  Rubber ones are more convenient and as you don't drive bare-foot, it doesn't make any difference in terms of comfort.  The only thing I do dislike about rubber mats is the "squeak sqeak!" every time you move your feet after walking in rain.

Mind you, maybe that isn't caused by the mat but rather the pedals...  I'll have to investigate that next time it rains!!

I do like having a shower and it's calmed me down alot.  I inadvertently lost my temper, sort of boom like a volcano.  Over the tiniest little thing.  I also like that I've moved 1/2 of the gravel from where my shed will be & filled 2/3 of the borders.  The other 3rd will be a deep raised bed with 2 railway sleepers as the raised bit & this will run the length of the fence to the front of where my shed will be.  WELL that is the plan, whether it will happen remains to be seen lol.  I also like my waist sized has gone from 36(tight) to a 32(loose) in about 3 months.

I know the feeling - it has happened to me many times recently (unfortunately).  For me it is linked with my anxiety, as the faster my heart-rate the shorter my temper gets.  I really need to do something about it though, as aside from the obvious issue (shouting at people) it is also causing a spike in my blood pressure which gives me chest pains and dizziness afterwords.

Anyway, this isn't the "don't like" thread so I'll shut up moaning!
